My husband LOVES Roman history & I love unique names...
We chose Hadrian Elliana or Caleigha Angeline if a girl & Michael Artorius (we would call him "Tory") or Tristan Zachary if a boy.
Both sides of the family think that our children would be made fun of, which I DON'T want. However, even though they are unusual, I don't think they're that bad... So I wanted other people's opinions.
Re: Sisters & Sisters-In-Law Hate Every Option!
Your boy names are fine (though if you want to call him Tory, why aren't you just giving him Artorius as a first name?) but your girl names are a little worrying.
I cannot figure out how to pronounce Caleigha (ka-LAY-a? ka-LEE-a?) and Hadrian reminds me of a hadrosaurus--not to mention that it was the name of a male emperor, and sounds masculine.
ITA with all of this.

Good question on the Artorius! My husband's name is Michael Joshua & he goes by Josh, his father is Michael Edward, & goes by Ed or Eddie & so on for a few more generations.
Caleigha is pronounced ka-LAY-a. & you are correct, Hadrian is a male emperor but I figure it's pretty close to the name Adrianne.
I agree with all of it, and was going to add that "Tory" sounds feminine. If I saw it written, I would assume Tory is a girl. Caleigha looks like an obnoxious spelling, and Hadrian is a horrible name for a girl. Eliana is beautiful.

Then name her Adrianne and it can still be inspired by Hadrian. Honestly, that's one of the worst names for a girl I've seen on here in a while.

This. However, if you know what names you want, I suggest not telling anyone until the baby is born. Otherwise, everyone will give you their opinions whether you want them or not!
Boy names are fine
Girls not so much
Actually, Tory sounded feminine was one of my concerns. Same with Tristan...
Interestingly, I was more uncertain about the boy names than the girls. Seems like everyone disagrees.
Niddle names in school don't really cone up that often, so let's concentrate on first names. Hadrian is indeed Roman, but it's also masculine. As someone pointed out in a previous post, it would give me the impression you don't know your Roman history and maybe his picked it because of it's similarity to the -Aden trend and the other masculine names like Hadley. Michael, Tory and Tristan...all masculine and all fine to me. Caleigha is a mess of vowels, and I'm not sure if you're going for Cal Ay Uh or Kay Lay Uh. The single L makes the A long, but that pronunciation seems awkward.

I would not name a girl Hadrian, I would consider that a male name. If you like Adrianne, name her Adrianne. At the very least make Hadrian the middle name if you insist on using it. I think you are going to have pronunciation problems with Caleigha, not sure if that is a problem for you. It also seems a bit made up.
I am also not a huge fan of calling someone by their middle name from birth. Why not just make that their first name. That being said, I am not a fan of Artorius.
I think Tristan Zachary is fine.

I do know that he was a male, I was thinking about spelling it Hadrianne, so it looks a bit more feminine, but part of me thinks that might be worse.
As far as the spelling for Caleigha, I appreciate the point! I'll have to think about that... The hubby wanted to spell it Kalayah, which I think is horrifying.
I wouldn't spell it Caleigha-- Leigh is pronounced "lee" so you'll be constantly correcting people. I don't like Kalayah either, but at the very least, it won't be pronounced incorrectly.
The boy names are fine!

I thought it was worth consideration, but apparently it sounds too much like "h--- yeah!" according to hubby. I do appreciate the suggestion... & may have to bring it up again.
elliana and angeline are okay.
i like michael.
tristan zachary is okay.
ITA with Moxie.
FWIW, kids find any freakin thing they can to make fun of another kid. Names are only the beginning.
Caleigha - love this, very pretty and feminine. And Angeline is a great MN too! I do see lots of nicknames in her future though with this name, so be prepared!
Michael Atorium - great name, but i don't really understand to call him "Tory". but hey, i'm a fan of nicknames, so whatever works for you
Tristan - Love tristan. Always have!
I like Tristan Zachary a lot. Michael Artorius is okay. I would be really confused how to pronounce Caleigha. And Hadrian is a male name. It seems weird to me that your DH would love Roman history but would use the name of a Roman emperor for a girl.
ETA: there are some good Roman empress names you could use for a girl - Livia and Theodora come immediately to mind.
Also agree :l I think Hadrian is awful and not at all feminine.
I think the boy names are fine. I agree with PP about the girl names though. Hadrian is way too masculine for a girl. And Caleigha just looks to me like you decided to mispell Kaley and then stick and -a on the end to make it extra uneek. Most people aren't going to realize the Roman connection, they will just think you happened to pick those names.
That said, it seems like every other kid these days has some sort of crazy name, and I don't think these are bad enough to stick out from the bunch. And if your kid is going to get picked on by other children, it's going to happen regardless of the name you choose.
