Poll: Convertible Car Seats

I'm starting to research convertible car seats and was wondering what everyone is getting or has gotten.

Do you have a seat?

What kind is it/are you gonna get?

How much was it?

Where did you get it?

Are you getting one for each car?

Is your child less than the 50th % or greater in general?

I know I will need a seat that has a higher weight/height limit since my son is in the 90th and 97th percentile so I'm just trying to get everyone's input!

TIA!

Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

We don't have one yet but I've been eying this one:

    https://www.amazon.com/Graco-Nautilus-Car-Seat-Matrix/dp/B0011URFRE/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1310073432&sr=1-1

We're only getting one for my car since DD has only been in DH's car once since she was born. DD is in the 50th percentile.

  • Do you have a seat? Yes

What kind is it/are you gonna get? Britax Marathon 70

How much was it?  I don't know, it was a gift. I'm guessing full price so $230-ish

Where did you get it? It was on my amazon registry.

Are you getting one for each car? Probably.

Is your child less than the 50th % or greater in general?   He's off the charts, actually.  98th and 99th in weight and height at 2 months, but currently is over 27 inches and probably is 18 lbs, at a week shy of 4 months.  He'll be too big for the infant seat by the end of the month.

Baby Boy Born 3.15.11. 8lb 9oz, 21.75in. 6 month stats: 20lb 11oz (92%tile), 30.12in.(100%tile - who knew it went over 99th? Which means 100% of other 6 month olds are shorter than mine!)

Do you have a seat?yes. ordered it last week should get here today!

What kind is it/are you gonna get?Sunshine kids radian 80sl. It has the highest rear facing weight limit and height I've found

How much was it? On sale for $202 with free shipping

Where did you get it?elitercarseats.com, amazon also has it for $215

Are you getting one for each car?Nope just one. I call DH's car a death trap and DS isn't allowed in there. My car is "the baby car" and we just switch cars when he is watching him.

Is your child less than the 50th % or greater in general? I have no idea how long DS is now but he is about 18lbs and just turned 4 months, I think that puts him somewhere around the 75 %. DH and I are both tall and DS is a big LO so that is why I went with this seat--I don't want him to outgrow it quickly (it feels like he did with his infant seat :( )

    TIA!

  • Thanks for all the info!

You're right. It is not able to be used rear-facing. We have that seat for our oldest son and we didn't buy it for him until he was almost 3. We had a Graco SafeSeat step 2 before that and an infant SafeSeat before that which we are now using for our younger son. We have a Snugride 35, which is basically the same seat, for Amelia.

  • Do you have a seat? - Not yet. Our infant seats have a 30 lb/32 inch limit so we've got some time to research

What kind is it/are you gonna get? - We haven't started to do major research but I've been looking at the Graco My Ride 65. It rearfaces to 40 lbs but I'm not sure on the height limit

How much was it? - it runs $112-160 depending on the retailer.

Where did you get it? - We'll probably go through Amazon or AlbeeBaby

Are you getting one for each car? - we only have one vehicle that carries all three kids so we'd only buy the seats for that one.

Is your child less than the 50th % or greater in general? - I'm not sure what their percentiles are right now, though I'm sure they're probably at or below 50%. they have their next well-baby check on Tuesday so I guess we'll find out then.
