Baby Names

Starting early but I don't think we'll ever be able to agree...

I know the names on my list are not the style most of you on this board like, but can you give me any guidance?

The list I have to vote on is more of a "starter". Names that I like and that hubby would consider. I like names that are a little different but not crazy. Unfortunately, most of the names I like are getting popular, but that's okay.

Some background before you judge: I am Shana and hubby is Jeffrey

Our names are where Shey came from SHana and jeffrEY. I wouldn't change the spelling. I did start liking Shayla as an alternative though.

DH would like to use Glendale as a middle name. It is his step-father's mn and his step-grandfather's fn. Neither of us are a big fan of step-father and I never met the grandfather, but DH says the grandfather meant a lot to him. I don't like the name but willing to consider.

My mom and step-mom are both Patricia, which is why mn Patrick is on the list.

My mom and my middle name are Marie.

DH and I got married in a Rose Garden, hence why I like the mn Rose as a possibility.

When I ask hubby for suggestions, he gives names that I really dislike. This morning his suggestions were: Ellie, Lily, Cayden, Jewel, and Rodrick.

I also liked Connor a lot, but DH vetoed it.

Thanks

  • The only ones I like are Charlie (prefer Charles with nn Charlie), Landon Patrick, Rhys, Noah, Roslyn and Fiona. Rose is pretty for middle name and goes with everything.

The names with Shay are terrible to me, but I'm just not a fan of made-up names. SPECIALLY when they come from meshing two names together.

Rylan is ok, but would much rather Ryan. Ryan Patrick is a cool name.

    Hope that helps!

  • Patricia Rose is pretty (you can go with Patty/Patti or Tricia for NN's)

Rosemarie is a nice combo name (which there hasn't been a lot of lately) but be prepared to have it mistaken for Rosemary.

I love Patrick.  It's a good solid name.  However, I don't like Glendale at all, but I do understand the family tie to it.  Patrick Dale could maybe be an option.  You're still keeping the name somewhat.

  • My name is Shea..pronounced the same as your "Shey" so I of course love that one lol I also like how you came up with it out of both you and DH names.

I also really like Rose..it isn't too over done and is a really pretty name!

Yes, I know a Shea (girl) and DH knows a Shay (boy). I think most people don't like how I spelled it, not the name itself Smile

  • Ditto PP, I like Charles with Charlie as a nn.  I also think Charles would be the only name on the list that can pull off Glendale as a mn.

For girls, I like both Roslyn and Fiona, both with the middle name Sage.

  • I dont think Shey is bad, not the prettiest name in the world, but if you love it, go for it. I like DH's suggestions of Ellie and Lily. Gorgeous names.
