Need some suggestions!

well, Dh is gone again today... He seems to be gone every weekend, off doing something fun with someone else!

Well, after talking to him about it yesterday he informed me that the reason he's always gone on his days off is because he doesn't like sitting at home all day (neither do I!). so I asked him why we don't go out and do something and he said it was because I never planned anything for us to do (I, however, was not aware that it was my job, and my job only, to do so). So....

I need some suggestions... What are some good things to get out and do as a family on the weekends. I'm just having such a hard time coming up with good things to do with a 3 month old. And, of course, money is really tight right now...

  • Park, walk, read.

We (DD and me) are listening to the new beyonce album together.  DD is a fan.

  • This time of year there are lots of festivals, free concert series, and fun free things going on at your local parks. Check out the zoo, go to the beach, grab some lunch outside or go to the drive in at night (bring the boppy!) We take DD everywhere with us because she is so little, traveling places is still relatively easy. Good luck!

All of this :-) Jared's band is playing an outdoor concert today, so Liam and I will get there early and walk around. And JOAN JETT is playing a free arts festival next month! I can't believe all the awesome stuff we're still doing with a baby :-)

Wow, that's really crappy of your DH.  How about he sits home with the baby all day while you go out and do something fun with your friends?  Bet he wouldn't like it very much!

DS and I are alone, so I actually love Saturdays at home when he can nap on me all day and I can catch up on all the T.V. I missed during the week when I spent the evenings taking care of him while getting ready for work the next day, etc.

But if you want to get out with LO it's a great time of year to do it.  Check out your local newspaper's website; they should have plenty of free family activities listed.

We do free festivals we never have to buy anything so its nice to go and look at the festival things.  The Art one here had so much and gave me so many ideas of things to make.  We also have free car shows (old cars), pop concerts at the park on Thursdays, Free kids movie at the park on Friday nights, and once in awhile the Symphony will come out for free concerts.  Pack a lunch and go to a local park.  I live in a small town so everything for us when we go into town is with in walking distance.

I also like what the other pp have suggested :)

  • we have a similar issue, DH either chooses to work late or makes up something he has to do.  I've told him it hurts my feelings, so we're trying to do things together more.  It is SO hot that there arne't a lot of outside things going on like PPs posted (no festivals when it is 110), so we've made several outings to walmart, target, BRU, etc.  I always need one thing, but then we spend time walking around and looking at strange things.

Last night we spend 45 minutes playing with the lego display in Toys R Us after getting $2.99 bottle nipples at BRU :)

  • Museums, festivals, farmers market, car or home or garden or whatever shows, new restaurant (not necessarily expensive).  DH and I love to go for a drive at nap time.  LO likes it, and DH and I just talk and enjoy the scenery.  We also like to take mini road trips to a town like an hour away and through the mountains.  When we get there, we get ice cream (gelato, actually), and then head home.  Of course, gas isn't free, but the ice cream is cheap, and the gas is worth the chat.  I love the website for our state for tourism.  It highlights a lot of free activities.  This weekend, we are planning to/have already: fishing, air show, birthday party, Scottish highland games, and local car racing.  The entry into the air show was free, the highland games and races I'm not sure yet, since we're doing those today.  HTH!

ETA: I'm an idiot sometimes.  We are NOT taking LO to the car races--waaay too loud.  My mom is watching him while we do that.  Doh!
