  • Zomg. I watched it live this morning and ..... wow. Not sure what was harder to watch- crazy Octomom, uber awkward Ann Curry, or the whacked out octuplets falling all over the place. Hot mess, all around.

  • I also saw it this morning. She's nuts.
  • I saw it this morning. I loved it when she stated that they were acting that way because they had only had 2 hours of sleep but they are normally well behaved. That MIGHT have been believable if they hadn't shown the taped piece before the interview started where they showed what a mess the house is with holes all over the walls and doors.

Also, she never really explained where she gets her money. She said she isn't on government assistance and there is no way she is making that much from being a "personal trainer". What a whack job.

  • I just watched it now!  OMG!  Is it wrong that I found myself counting the kids over and over again?  I will say that I feel like that is what I look like and how distracted I am with just 2.  I can't even imagine.  At all.  She is so odd.  SO odd.  And what the h was up with Ann Curry's dress?

I'll admit to not knowing a whole lot about government assistance programs, but my gut says this is a lie.  I've heard she receives some sort of disability or something for a few of the older kids. I cannot imagine with that with that many kids and no income she's not receiving assistance for food and I'm sure all of the babies are on state health insurance. I think sometimes people define "government assistance" differently to allow themselves to feel better about it.  IMO, if you aren't working, and you are receiving any money from the government, with the exception of social security, you are on government assistance.

  • OK, I had to turn it off.  She is annoying beyond words. She interrupts, and talks like she is on speed constantly.  I hope that her "manager" can help her with her public speaking ability.  Yikes.

I feel sorry for her poor 9-year-old, who is obviously the unpaid overworked nanny.

This! It was a total trainwreck and I kept getting up and coming back to it. I'm no psychologist but I think, aside from the fact that she voluntarily had 8 more children in the situation that she was already in, that there is something not quite right with her. She seems very childish and distracted even when her children aren't around for an interview (I'm taking this from the Oprah episode that she did with Suze Orman. She was very giggly (which she said she does when she's nervous) and Oprah had to keep reeling her back in similarly to the way Ann had to).

  • I think she's a nut and I feel bad for all those kids for a million different reasons and I don't want to get accused of defending some of her insane behaviors & choices, but....

I really feel like the Today show set it up to be total chaos. I mean, why wouldn't htey enclose the area they were interviewing in, rather than a wide open space? I'm sure they have all sorts of set capabilities. And why wouldn't there be staff (theirs or hers or both) stationed around them to keep them corraled and/or entertain them (like natalie was)- there is no way she traveled out there w/out a few other adults, so why not have htem help out? I feel like that was kind of unfair.

It also made me laugh a little b/c that is what running after a bunch of toddlers is like...I feel like that with my 2 (like others said)  so I can only imagine with more than that & trying to keep them on one rug, huh? I kind of appreciated how she actually counted them out loud on several occasions. Clearly that is a habit of hers to keep them in check.

That being said, I think her publicist coached her to get some points across and she was probably hyped up on something (either normally or b/c of the time change & early hour) and she was talking a mile a minute. I can't quite picture the personal training thing & I had a hard enough time getting 2 spots in a daycare, how did she get 8 spots in a preschool? LOL. Just kidding there...kind of.

i think our tax code needs a major overhaul, but i don't consider a tax deduction (i.e. mortgage tax deduction most of us take, including me) to be a government "program".  Hope type scholarships, yes.  Student loan interest deductions, no.  A deduction is not a "program" in the sense of welfare, WIC, food stamps, medicaid, Section 8.  Medicare is, but so far it's not a social program in that everyone who puts in, takes out, regardless of their "means".  If they change it to add means testing, then it will be a social program.

    well said!

I can see your point, but when 1/4 people who are on Food Stamps don't think they are using a government social program, I have to laugh. There is so much denial in that.

  • That was a complete disaster. I really felt bad for her 10 year old daughter. She was acting more like a mom than Octomom.
