My husband and I are expecting our third child. A little girl! After two boys we are so excited. My sons names are Grayson James (age 5) and Sawyer Thomas (age 2). We are looking for a girl name that will embody a cute little girl we imagine her to be. We want a name that has Southern charm to it, like the boys.
Our favorite name is Lulu Marie. My husbands Southern family thinks it's perfect, but my typical Boston family worry its too deep south. Does it work for our Boston area? Any alternative suggestions?

Just keep swimming.
I think you have to remember you're not just naming a little girl. I just don't see it aging well, I can't for the life of me imagine a lawyer or a doctor (or whatever she wants to be) named Lulu. It just doesn't seem professional, and she could very well hate it. I'd pick a different name and just call her Lulu. Or what about Lulu as a middle name? Other ideas:
Savannah, Darby, Arden, Blaire, Ruby, Ivy, Willa
Lulu sounds like a dog name but it sounds right for the south. Here's some other names...
Layla Marie
Cheyenne Leigh
Tabitha Grace
Torianne Leigh
I like Scarlett too!

I'm from the South, and the only Lulu I know of is "Lulu's Cafe" - run by a woman named Lulu. I think there was an old comic strip called "Little Lulu" or something similar.
I agree that it would be a cute nn, but maybe use something less cutesy for a full name. I still go by the "cute" nn I used growing up in general, but never use it in professional or academic (ie, grad school) settings - I either use a more adult nickname or my full name. It's good to have that choice.
I love the suggestions for Lucille (beautiful and classic, but call her Lulu for short) or Scarlet/Scarlett (pretty and southern, fits well with her brothers).
Don't like Lulu as an actual first name... Sorry. It's just kind of goofy and I agree with the others that it will not age well. Cute on an infant, 2 yr old, 5 yr old, sure... but as she gets older... No.
my dd is lucy and we always call her lulu. you said you want "lulu" to embody a cute little girl, and i think it totally does! true, giving her a more formal name will give her more options as she grows, but if you love lulu & it suits you and your hubby's style, then go for it!
it seems like names that aren't in the top ten always get...other suggestions!
I like Lulu, but as a nickname, not a full name.
Names I think flow with your boys: Grace, Olivia, Tabitha, Charlotte, Emily, Elizabeth, Candace, Annette, Anna, Johanna, Ava
Lucille, Luella, Louise, Louisa......call her Lulu as a nickname, I beg you.
Lulu on its own definitely does not pass the resume test. Please don't make your daughter introduce herself as Lulu at job interviews.
There's never going to be a Supreme Court Justice Lulu or a President Lulu. Dr. Lulu is pushing it.
Just sayin.
My name is Lindsey and a coworker of mine game me the nn Lulu once! He was the only one who called me that, but I always kind of liked it, for a nn.
I would not give your daughter the formal name of Lulu, it doesn't age well, and the PPs have given you plenty of great names that Lulu would be a great nn for.

Love the name suggestions- "Georgia Kate" or "Georgia Rose" are on our list for a girl LO. We're from NY.
I'm not from the South, so I can't speak to Lulu being a traditional Southern name. I agree with the others that it does not scream professionalism as she grows up and enters college/the work force. I'd use it as a nickname for some of the longer names others suggested. I also love Scarlett!!
Are you for serious? Are you having a baby or a poodle? Because with that name, I'd assume you were an 80 year old woman and Lula was your dog.
IMO, you should never aim to give your child a "cute" name. Ugh.
