Yup! Flame away!
We had DS's 4 month check up today, and our family doctor suggested we start solids. Jake is 16lbs and 24.5" long. She's worried about him gaining too much, since he's on the shorter side. Plus she said she usually always gives the go ahead at 4months.
We're beginning in the "yellow" family. So tonight he had carrots, and after a few days of that, if everything's ok, we'll venture into squash.
His face was priceless after that first bite! But he really took to the carrots.
I gotta get DH to hook up the diaper sprayer now!
Re: We're starting solids!
your doctor suggested solids because she's worried about him gaining too much weight from formula? I'm just clarifying because I'm going to the pedi tomorrow and trying to get my feelers out for what she'll say. I have zero clue if they'll give the go ahead since DS is EBF and has been gaining just fine. He's almost 14 lbs and has always been in the 50 percentile for height.
I guess I should more so be worrying about his shots. Last time, he was a disaster!
Am I missing something? this is the 2nd time you have brought up flaming about solids and I haven't seen anyone do that, maybe I missed a thread. I don't think its flameful at all. I just feel people should wait and take to their pediatrician first.
No flames here! Your doctor is.. a doctor.. and I'm not!
Time to get out those bibs, highchairs, & spray mats! Woohoo!
People have made some very straight forward comments about introducing solids to their little ones before the 6 month mark.
Yes. In a nutshell, he's short and plump. But that's us. Every family is different!
And bust out the diaper sprayer!
I gotta start batching up some purees. We're introducing carrots first. So in the morning I'll give him cereal and in the evening carrots along with formula during the day. Maybe the end of this week or beginning of next we'll try yellow squash.
Not looking forward to more solid poops that's for sure...have fun!!!!
Good luck! Also, I don't think you'll receive flames from most people for something your pedi recommended. I'm definitely going to talk to ours about starting at least a few weeks before 6 months since i'll be back at work the week before he turns 6 months & want to get comfortable with it before I'm back at work full time.
