I'm trying to keep up with reading something for myself every couple of weeks. I'm so sick of reading about parenting, babies, sleep, ect.
Recommend your great summer reads. I'm looking for something that's an easy read since I can only grab half an hour here and there to read in the evenings. I'm not a fan of the vampires or the romance novels, but would be open to anything from biographys to Nicholas Sparks. haha
TIA!
Re: Book Recommendations
Have you read the Hunger Games trilogy? It's the best series I've read in a long time. It's been around for a while but I just recently joined the party. I got Catching Fire (book 2) from the library on Tuesday, started it last night after Charlie went to bed, and stayed up until 2:00 this morning so I could finish it.
The Shopaholic books are really easy reads, but they make me kind of anxious to read
I'm also into the Foundation Series by Asimov.
Are you on Goodreads? I've gotten a lot of good ideas there.

I just read Tina Fey's "Bossypants" and really enjoyed it.
I also read several Emily Giffin books this summer, mostly at the beach and by the pool on vacation. If you haven't read them, they're perfect for summer.

Tina Fey's Bossypants was hilarious and an easy read. And I always recommend Lisa See's Snow Flower and the Secret Fan because it is wonderfully written.
Curtis Sittenfeld's Prep and American Wife are written with unbelievably honest and true voices. She is, in my opinion, one of the best living authors.
I just finished The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. I held off on reading it for a couple of months because the cover looks kind of boring and the dust jacket description was plain, but it was SO good, and everyone I have met who has read it has just loved it.
For lighter reads, try Sophie Kinsella's Twenties Girl. She wrote the Shopaholic series, which is great, but I think Twenties Girl is her best novel yet.
I could seriously go on and on...someone mentioned Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. He is somewhat obscure (I believe he is actually a surgeon...) but his book caught on and Cutting for Stone is on the NYT Bestseller List right now. The same thing happened to Khaled Hosseini, who wrote The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns (also great books) and who was previously a doctor, so I'm curious to see what happens to Verghese. Cutting for Stone is great, but somewhat long.
I'd recommend the Sloane Crosley books. She wrote "I Was Told There'd Be Cake" and "How Did You Get This Number?"
I'm also on Goodreads - note to self to find fellow Bumpies - and the web site whatshouldireadnext.com (seriously) is helpful.
oh, i want to read "Bossypants" so badly....
I liked Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, and have heard Pride Prejudice and Zombies is equally as good.
If you want a book to just last maybe a day and a half, the Harry Potter series and the Percy Jackson series are good too. (yes, I'm a dork. haha)
