So...for quite some time A has said pee pee or poo poo when he needs to go. For a long time, he wouldn't go to the potty or he would sit on it, but with clothes and wouldn't let me pull down his pants/diaper. He is at daycare a couple days per week and DCP says he is interested, will sit on the potty, but hasn't gone. For the last 3-4 wks he will sit on the potty before bath naked, but has still not gone. I am not in some crazy rush to get him PT, but also want to make sure we are going about it the right way and wonder if there are ways that we can encourage it more. We have told him that he would get a treat if he goes pee pee or poopoo on the potty, but that hasn't made anything happen. Thoughts? Is now the time to do the intense 3 day method since he is interested? OR just wait longer until he actually goes and then push it? Thanks!
Re: Potty Training advice
DS was very very similar and in about the same place at the same age. We had a lot of flux in our lives at the time and I chose not to push. I waited until we were more settled, and then made a promise of something concrete that he wanted and went for it. We didn't do the 3 day. Just went straight to undies, with frequent trips to the bathroom. He was 2.5 and it was fast -- from diapers to very few accidents in a matter of weeks. If he had accidents, we changed him fast, and saved diapers only for night time.
If you feel like now's the time, try it and see how it goes. If it failes badly (which to me would be no effort to go in potty at all), then I'd hang back and wait a bit longer.
