What is the difference between RLP and Cramps?

I am sitting here at my desk and I am having these pains in my lower abdomen. It has gone from dull to almost like a stabbing pain. My lower back doesn't hurt and my belly doesn't feel tight. I tried getting up and walking and that seemed to help and then I sat back down in my computer chair and it started hurting again. I have also been having very runny/watery BMs today (sorry if TMI). I had this same feeling the other night but it went away after about 30 minutes.

  • my RLPs have always been very dull more like an aching pain, as opposed to a menstrual-like cramp.

  • hmmm I think I might have been feeling the same thing yesterday for a few hours off and on but it went away so Im trying not to worry. I would love to know what it was though.

  • I feel like RLP is more internal in the muscles underneath.  Whereas cramping (for me gas cramping) is on the top and all over the place.

I dont know about bad cramps...?

  • RLP should fade/improve as you shift positions.  Cramps (at least contraction-type cramps) would/should be associated with a tightening of the stomach.  At least this is the advice my OB gave me when I was trying to assess whether the pains I get while running are RLP.
