If money and location were not factors, which Atlanta metro area preschool or elementary school would you choose for you child(ren)? We are talking dream scenario here -- would you go public or private?
There is a difference between preschools and elementary schools. I am happy with our preschool. Our dream private schools, and where we will be applying, are Atlanta International, St Martins, Pace and maybe Westminster. Public I would do Sarah Smith.

I would love for my kids to go to the Walker School in Marietta. Because of location, we can't do that so we will be using the Alpharetta public schools at first. There are other private schools that I would be interested in but I believe that to be the best education in the area. The new lower school principal and assisant principal are AWESOME.
I'm an intown person, so honestly, I don't know a lot about the schools in the suburbs beyond the high schools.
I know that when it comes to pre-schools, I think it's totally a vibe thing for the parents. Frankly, we love our pre-school, but it's not for everyone. I've had other parents say they think the teaching methods that our school uses are too agressive. To each his own
There's a lot more to consider with private schools too then just location and cost. There's so much about the style of education and whether or not it would fit your child. I think that's what makes it a "dream" school. Who cares about the test scores, placements, and extra-curriculars if it isn't an environment where your child is going to thrive.
That said, if we go private we're probably applying to Trinity, Atlanta International and Westminster. If we decide to stay in the city and go public then we'll likely move into either the Sara Smith district or Morris Brandon.
In la-la land? The Children's School & Paideia, although DH might just die because that is way too liberal/ hippie-dippy for him.
In reality I went to private school (abroad) and am not sure it's worth it for us. Who knows, though. I have a couple of years
I love the idea of Paideia, but I think dh thinks it is too hippy-dippy as well. And our son goes to a very, very hippy preschool, but Paideia is just a little too much for him!

I would love Mia to go to your pre-K, too But yes, now that I think about her personality, I think she'd do better with a little more structure... hahaaaa.

Send her to our preschool! We love it! Although it sucks there are no full day programs, which I guess is what she would need?
Yeah, I think the whole no grades thing at Paideia threw dh off!

We're intown and I've heard the same thing about where Bailey goes. Wonder if it's the same school.
Anyways, since we are in the city we will try to do private school b/c I don't really trust the city of atlanta especially the fighting school board. We'll look at Whitefield since it's a christian school and probably a few others. I do love that Bailey's pre-school does private school seminars to help parents find the perfect fit for their kid if they are going the private school route. I think it depends on the kid as to which school they should go too. Certain private schools are known for certain things and some kids would excel better in one then another.

I told someone the other day "It makes me a total hypocrite but I have no intentions of encouraging my daughter to embrace her individulaity." hahahah I'm totally open minded and outspoken when it comes to the world and other people but it scares me sh!tless when it comes to Emma.

Thanks everyone! There are so many private schools to chose from, I am easily overwhelmed. I went to public school and have no problem sending my son there, I just wondered if private school would make a huge difference. My husband went to public and private and his only feedback is that he is not a fan of schools with religious affiliation. I have plenty of time (I think). My son is only 2 but time goes by so fast! Thanks again for your feedback!

Yeah, in our "plan" I'd still be working, but who knows? I love, love your preschool. I used to go to church there, too!
