Hi ladies...
just wanted to follow up! now that I have the pictures of us nursing the weaning thing is really starting
we started last night with bedtime... instead of nursing to sleep we did
8pm..bath 8:30... nurse 8:45... books 9pm bed
he literally nursed for 10 minutes then popped off all excited for his sleepover with daddy
my husband put together a floor bed for himself forh is big sleepover (we decided to keep m in his crib for a little) there was definite screaming and he was upset but my husband just held him and rocked him (he stopped crying after not even 10 minutes) and within a half hour he was asleep on his mattress which ended up on the floor!
he woke up at 2:30 cried and screamed for milk but was back asleep within 10 minutes!!! (although at 2:30 somehow m ended up on daddys makeshift bed with daddys pillow while poor dh slept on the crip mattress on the floor with no pillow... i love that man) M then slept til 7am then woke up and really wanted milk... deciding that we will work on dropping the morning session after we conquer nighttime he nursed for not even 5 minutes!
he usually nurses for like a hour before bed, an hour when he wakes up in the middle of the night and an hour in the morning!
I was shocked and how well it went! I was ready for a 3 hour struggle at bedtime... oh and while all this was going on i was just in our bed crying i felt so bad
but i know its for the best especially since we are going to ttc in the next 2 months!
i did buy him a matchbox car so the he had a present if he slept well...
we are getting him a pillow and changing his boy to a big boy bed today! (for poor dh's sake!)
Thanx for letting me share here ... I almost wish it was harder (not really but ya know)... I am way more upset about it then him!!!!!!!!
anyway thanx for reading through this novel haha I always loved reading other peoples stories so I wanted to share ![]()
Re: f/u beginning to wean :(
It sounds like he is doing great and that you have a wonderful support system with DH.
It will take time for you to adjust emotionally, hormonally, and physically but I will tell you that now that we are just at about 2 months post weaning I feel pretty great about how things went. In a perfect world DD would have nursed until she was 100% done but there were factors in play that didn't allow for that. Looking back, based on how things went, I'd say she was 98% ready and I contributed the other 2% push she needed to get over the hump. Anwyays when you are in the thick of things it can be heart wrenching but things are nice here on the other side. You'll get here :-)
