Just signed up for 10K

It's not until Columbus Day weekend, but I needed an actual deadline/event to get me more motivated with my running again.  Now that I am signed up, I feel like I have to make myself get out there a bit more and start training.

Working out has always been a way for me to destress, but with an infant, and my DH gone for 12 hour work days and training for a 60 mile bike race, when I get some down time, I choose sleep!  Here's hoping this is the motivation I need.

Good luck! I need to sign up for a race to give me some motivation, too.

  • I'm so excited for you and proud of you! Today was my first day back to running, and I just did .76 miles. I basically set the treadmill for a certain amount of time and am just hoping to get faster and get a mile in that time, then to start working my way back to my 3 miles a day. Good luck!

  • Good for you!  I am not a runner, but I like the idea of a deadline.

  • Good luck! I signed up for a March of Dimes 5K back in May (3 months after my LO was born). I said I would train, but I didn't train at all. It was a rough run, but I had sponsors so I had to do it!!

I signed up for a marathon for the same reason. Have you started running with LO in a jogging stroller? I was really surprised when my pedi said I could start running with Miles in the stroller (with infant seat attachment) at 2 months. Definitely can't complain, since I have no excuse to skip a run now.

    Good luck with training!!

I was going to call and ask about this because her next appt is not until mid-August.  We have the BOB with adapter and I knew it would be so much easier if I could train with her!

  • Thanks for the support!  I'm actually pretty excited about it.  I figure I ran up to 38 weeks pregnant and it's time to get that back.  My sister wants to do it, too and I figure if she can find the time to train with a 5 y.o., 3 y.o., 10 month old twins and working part time, then I have no excuses!

  • Good luck!  I'm running the Warrior Dash next Sunday.  Definitely a motivator.
