Right now I'm EBF DD. However I am going back to work mid-August (teacher). DD doesn't particularly like the bottle. When should I start pumping to build a stash and when should we start integrating the bottle into DD's routine? I'm not sure how soon to start. I don't want my MIL to have a week from hell by not doing anything until the last minute! I feel so sad to not EBF. I think I'm more attached to it than she is!
(MIL is watching DS and DD).
TIA

Will she not take a bottle from you or not take one from anyone? My DD used to take a bottle from me, no problem, but since she started DC, she only wants the boob from me. She will take it from DH though.
Start building a stash now! I have such a hard time pumping at work. I have plenty of time to do it, I just don't produce nearly as much. I only get about 2 oz per session and I've tried everything to improve that. She takes about 12 oz at daycare.
My freezer stash is the only thing getting me through right now.
Also, it's taken me a little bit to learn how to pump effectively. Manual compression, relaxing, etc. I would try to get some practice in before you get to work and panic that you may not produce enough. I would start by pumping after feedings or pump on one side while feeding on the other at times when she doesn't eat as much. My DD doesn't nurse heavily at 5 pm or 3 am, so I pump on one side during those feedings.

I'm in the same boat as you (school nurse), and this is what we are doing:
My LO is STTN, so I pump 1-2 hours after her last night feed before I go to bed. I usually get 3-4 oz. Usually she eats on both sides, but if she doesn't I pump the other side. Occasionally, I pump an hour after her (2nd) morning feeding. We have had a hard time getting her to drink from a bottle, so start now figuring out what she likes. We give her one bottle every couple of days to practice. I'm sad to give up EBF too, but it's only 2 bottles a day for us. It's my favorite time of day!

Fellow Teacher here,
I think you should start pumping now and have your DH bottle feed you LO just to start getting him use to it. I cried the first time so I understand but by DH loved the bonding time so I am glad. I am also happy we did it because it has taken me a long to find a bottle that he loves.
As far a building a stash I would say it depends on how long you intend on BF. I started in June because I am afraid that I won't be able to pump at work as much as I want to.
Thanks ladies! I haven't tried to feed her with a bottle. That's a great idea to try to get her to take it. I'm going to start today. I stopped within two weeks of having her because it caused me to have a hyper supply. Will that happen again?
