South Bay Play Groups?

One of my oldest friends is moving back to the bay area with her 7-year-old and 2-year-old twins. I know that she'll be looking for some play/mom groups but since we don't live there anymore I thought I'd ask you guys if you know of anywhere good. TIA!

  • lol, yeah I'm going to tell her to come on here, not sure if she will though. I think she's moving to San Jose, but maybe Sunnyvale, not entirely sure.
  • Check out meetup.com!

I tried doing play groups but it was too hard because if you have a bad night with the kids, someone is getting sick, etc, it seems like more of a let down. I do more 1-on-1 type play dates with people that I know, people from this board or just randomly go to the park and meet people.

I second meetup, although I signed up for a bunch but never attend.

What sort of things do they enjoy doing?

I'll tell her about meetup. Honestly I'm not sure what they enjoy, it's been a while since we've really hung out.

I know that where I am we have a local program called Parent's Place where you sign up for an age-related class (all the kids in your class are around the same age) and you do age-appropriate activities plus there's a lot of discussion about parenting topics with the moms. Then they also offer separate classes like Fun with Food, Art, Science, etc. Is there anything like that in the South Bay?

it really is, they have so much stuff there, a 2under2 group, a SAH Dads group, moms of multiples, a post-partum support group, music for babies, a class called "tots in motion" for the 1 year and up. It's such an amazing resource. I guess I'm just spoiled by it. I think every place should have a program like it. :)

I'll pass on the meetup suggestion and tell her to be brave and come around here.
