Two Under 2

On "vacation" with 2.5 yr old and 12 month old...

we are great with road trips and the kids, we do great alone, but we are on vacation at the beach with my parents, 2 sisters, their DHs and a total of 6 kids (2 are mine) 4 of the kids are under 2.5. The first few days were great...now its not fun. Dh me and the kids are all in one room and of course one wakes the next. They barely want to nap, and as soon as the sun is up, so are they! UGH...we were supposed to leave saturday (got here last saturday) but we are leaving friday now...even DS keeps saying he wants his bed. poor kid. He is having a ball with his cousins, but that many people in one house is rough. Plus we all have very different parenting styles, and my one nephew is on west coast time, and the others dont got to bed until 10...mine are in bed by 730-8. Its hard to relax after your kids go to bed when every elses kids are still up!

vent over, next time we need two rooms for us all.

  • Isn't it sad how "vacations" start to seem more like "work trips" now?  That is a lot to work around!  I am sure you are making the best of it!

  • Oh yikes!!

We just got back yesterday from a vacation to Charleston.  We stayed with my best friends, but even then, I had DD in her own room, DS in his own room, and I got my own room too.  I was planning on sleeping in the same room as DS, but am SO GLAD we got to spread out.  I can't imagine having to all stay in the same room...that's a recipe for an anxiety attack for me!

I totally agree about the vacation not feeling very relaxing.  2 young children in a car for long periods of time, even in the best of circumstances, is exhausting.
