Anyone's LO still in the same room?

Im wondering what's a good time to start to transition her. I was planning on waiting until she started rolling which I thought would be around 3 months. Well she's 3 1/2 months and I don't think she's going to be rolling any time soon. She's crazy long though so fills out the co sleeper pretty well and doesn't seem so teeny in the crib anymore. She's well below the weight limit of 50 lbs on the cosleeper but she's sttn a lot from about 1030-430/5. I think I'll miss her if she's not next to me but I think it's got to happen soon. My husband says she can stay in our room forever. Anyone's LO's still in their room? How long are you waiting?

Re: Anyone's LO still in the same room?

  • My LO is still in my room and I don't plan on moving her. It's just her and I tho, and my 6 yr old has her own room. I did move LO into her crib (out of my bed) last week, but the crib is right next to my bed so I can give her a little pat if she needs it. Even moving her from my bed to her crib made me miss her... maybe because we weren't "thisclose" any longer...

I say do what feels right for you and DH! Smile

Still in our room in the PNP.  She wont get her own room until our addition is done, and that doesn't look like it's going to happen before the end of the year because DH and his family are doing it.  We will need to set the crib up soon though.

It's not that big of a deal to us how long she stays.

  • DS is still in our room though we want to transition soon.  He won't sleep in the crib yet though so not sure when that will happen.  We are ready, but he isn't and that;s ok.

  • If what you're doing is working for you, DH and baby (and it sounds like it is if she's STTN, he wants her to stay and you know you'll miss her), I wouldn't worry about changing things just because she reaches a certain age. American Association of Pediatricians actually recommends they stay in your room until at least 6 months old due to lower SIDS risk. That's what we were hoping to do, but DD had other ideas and will not sleep unless she's in her own room, so we moved her there at 4 weeks old. 9 weeks later, I still wish she was in our room and miss her at night, so just because you move them, doesn't mean you stop missing them any time soon. :(

  • My LO is still in our room.  Before he was born I planned on moving him at 3 months, but then read that 6 months is recommended by Pediatricians. He is starting to sleep through the night and sleep longer.  I'm really torn about when to transition him, but it will be sometime between 3 and 6 months.  I think it should be totally your discretion.

  • I had to move him around 2 months because he was scooting up to the edge of the non-mesh side of the co-sleeper and I was afraid he would suffocate. I had planned on keeping him with us util 4-6 months, but he is already rolling so I guess it is good that we did it when we did. The transition was harder on me than him. I liked being able to just look over at him, but now that we've adjusted it has been fine. He slept all night the first night he was in there. I of course was up checking on him constantly.

  • We moved DS around 3-4 months.  We just moved DD this week and she's sleeping great in there.  She was sleeping in our bed before then (she hated the bassinet) and I wanted to move her before the 4 month wakeful phase.

  • Our LO is still in our room in her bassinet. I plan on moving her to her crib when she starts to roll over or when I go back to work (she'll be around 4 months). I ebf and it just seems easier to have her next to me for her middle of the night feeding.

  • Edmund will be in our room until we move out of this apartment. There is no room for him in the spare bedroom which has our extra bed, the litter box and all of our stuff that is technically storage stuff.

  • For right now DD is still in our room in her PNP.  I had originally planned to move her to her room at 3 months, but now I'm not sure. We only have air conditioning in our bedroom, so it's really too hot for her to sleep in her own room right now. Also, DD likes to sleep with her blanket against her face, so I'm always worried about the suffocation risk. The idea of moving her to another room right now really worries me. Plus, our monitor gets really bad feedback and I can't figure out how to stop it, so I can't really use it right now. At least until we get a new monitor she will be with us. We will probably wait until September when it's cooler to move her. I figure she will probably be rolling by then (she'll be 5 months) and mobile enough that I won't worry about the blanket as much.

Our only concerns are that sometimes DH wakes her up when he gets ready for work. She also has started to be awake for a about 30 min at about 5 am and she gets really vocal sometimes. She isn't upset, but she does keep me up and sometimes wakes DH up too.  But, it really isn't bothering us enough to consider the move yet.

  • DD spends the first stretch in her crib, then joins me in bed usually around 2am (this morning not til 4 though!!!) for a feeding and snuggle until we get up at about 6.

Still in the co-sleeper here. I think we're about to transition him to the crib, though, because one night I couldn't sleep, so I took the monitor out to the couch and slept fine away from DS and DS slept fine away from me. Plus, he really likes playing in his crib during the day, so it's probably time.

  • Still in our room at 14 weeks. We have the crib set up in the corner and lately she has been sleeping in there from 9:30pm to 7:00am but we also bedshare on the nights when it is too hot to swaddle. Our house is not set up well for LO to be in a separate room (the 2nd bedroom is on the first floor, master bedroom is on the 3rd) so we will have LO in our room until at least October, which is when we may move to a bigger place. If we don't move then, she will be in our room until summer 2012, when we plan to move back to the US and buy a house.

  • Our little guy is still in our room, and I don't see that changing anytime in the immediate future. He is currently still in his Rock n Play, but we may see how he does in the Pack n Play (he has never been one for sleeping lying on his back) before we move him into his room for good. I wouldn't be surprised if we stretch it out until after 6 months...

  • Our LO is still in our room, in her bassinet.  She will stay there until she either gets too big or she starts sitting/pulling herself up.  She sleeps in her crib fine, and we have a video monitor, but I like having her with me.

  • Jack is still in our room. I read somewhere that no other culture has there baby sleep so far away. It makes sense to me to keep him close for a while. I opted not to bed share when I realized that if dh's diabetes us not under control he often is very difficult to wake up. We are going to Ohio in sept to visit the fan so maybe after that. I will say that when I think about it, I get a little sad.
