Houston Babies

Recommend a good RE

Hi Ladies-

Does anyone have a good recommendation on a RE located in Houston?

Thanks so much!

Re: Recommend a good RE

  • Any particular part of Houston?

I saw Dr Gill at Houston Fertility Institute. Really, all the doctors there are great. They have offices all over, but I went to the Fondren and Katy locations.

  • Thanks everyone! My Dr. recommending Dr. Russel Weidman, he is in the Texas Institute for Reproductive Medicine & Endocrinology located on Fannin.  I am doing some research on which Dr may be the best fit for me.

I saw Dr. Roach while TTC, and thanks to her we have DS, but now I see Dr. Rodrguez at the Texas Institute for Reproductive Medicine & Endocrinology for PCOS issues while not TTC.

Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!
    BFP #1 6/22/09 EDD: 3/2/10 DS born: 3/8/10

    TTC #2 since Dec 2011
    BFP #2 7/8/12 EDD: 3/18/12 M/C @ 9w1d: 8/16/12

Another satisfied customer of Dr. Roach (see siggy).

We've moved and she's just too far away so I'm going to give another dr a shot.

My RE retired, but I hear good things about the other docs in her office.

  • I love, love my new RE!!!  Dr. Gibbons at the Baylor Clinic.  At our first visit, he did a total assessment, u/s, and talked to us forever.  We were with him for 2 hours at our first visit going over everything.  I mean, what doctor spends 2 hours with a patient?!?!  My last RE never really cared if there could be something wrong with me, he just wanted to jump straight to injections and/or IVF because of my age.

His nurses are awesome and you get calls right back if you have to leave a message.

https://www.bcm.edu/obgyn/?pmid=11872  They use "MyChart", which is the best thing ever.  As soon as something is posted in your chart, you get an email and you can look at results, view your appts, etc.

  • I just switched REs so I don't feel like I can recommend mine yet.

I just wanted to say "hi" because I saw your intro on the Trouble TTC board as well.  I'm a regular there and its a great support system,  Feel free to PM me if you need anything or have any questions.

  • I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Michael Heard. he used to be at the Women's specialist but now he's moved to an office in Katy

    https://www.houstonrei.org/

He is very sweet and takes a lot of time to learn about his patients. he also has a good sense of humor, which was great for us because I was really freaking out TTC.

  • I see Dr Weidman, but it's for my thyroid and auto immune issues.  He also helped my co worker with her hormone imbalance.  He doesn't give you the warm fuzzy and has a very dry humor, so if it was looking for an Reproductive Endo, I don't know if I would go to him because it's such an emotional roller coaster while getting treated for infertility that I would want someone that had a nurturing side.

He's very straight forward, he ask lots of questions and runs lots of test.  I like that.  He's also conservative and so while most Dr would have told me that I either needed radiation treatment or surgery to remove my thyroids, he said to take the meds and see how it goes.  Well..I'm completely off meds now and my thyroids are functioning (so far) normally again.  So for a regular endo, he's great.
