Hotel room w/ LO

So in case DD and I end going with DH (see need advise post below if you are curious), what advise about sharing a hotel room with LO can you offer? dD has slept in her crib in her room since coming home from the hospital. We will have her PNP for her to sleep in TIA!

Re: Hotel room w/ LO

  • Just be prepared for the noisiness of sleeping with an infant in the room!

We've had DS in the PNP in our hotel rooms and in our room at my inlaws.  Other than making sure I had everything I needed for bed out before I put DS to sleep, its really not much different.  I even pumped with him in the room.

  • Bring ear plugs. Seriously. Babies are noisy. They toss and turn and grunt and snort. When we shared a room with E this weekend, we got no sleep with her tossing and turning and then H would toss and turn. She didn't wake up. She just woke us up! EAR PLUGS!

  • Don't be afraid to ask the front desk for anything. Its surprising what you can get or get access to just by asking and being friendly. If you mention that you are there for a familiy funeral they may be more accomidating as well. If your baby is a light sleeper ask for a room away from the elevator and away from any large groups that may be staying (people have a habit of partying in the hall when they are in big groups). Also ask for a room that has a layout that will allow for you to set up the pnp allowing room around it so you aren't tripping over yourself. If you are in the room during the day throw up the do not disturb sign so that housekeeping won't bother you.

  • If you have a little machine that makes white noise I would use it...my PNP actually has this attached and it's what we use on an everyday basis.  That way hallway noises and such won't wake up your LO...might even drown out some of the baby's noises if LO is a noisy sleeper.

  • We just did this last night.  We were able to request a refrigerator for formula and a lay out for the PNP.  I agree with everyone else, babies are loud!  My LO also sleeps in his own room.  I thought I would be ok because I have the monitor next to my bed but in the hotel it was so much different.  I felt like I had to keep watching him.  He has been sleeping through the night since about 12 weeks, but he woke up and was ready to play.  I ended up playing with him for a bit (since I was up anyway) and then gave him 2 oz of formula and he fell asleep.  GL
