2nd birthday party ?

Okay... I know it's super early to start thinking about E's 2nd bday, but since I love party planning and I'll have an infant when the time gets closer, I'm already thinking about it! Haha! My ? is, should I do whatever theme I want or do something she'd like? It's not like she'll remember the party so I kind of want to pick a theme I like, but she does have her own interests now and would probably like seeing one of her favorite animals or characters... What did you think?

Re: 2nd birthday party ?

  • I say pick what you want, since it's probably the last year you'll be able to pick it for her. Big Smile

  • I say pick two things and let her choose.

  • I admit, I picked the "theme" (which is a stretch for what will be a very simple party) It is one that HE will love - but is also NOT a cartoon character so I can give have a little more creative fun. I figure this is the last year I'll have any say, so why not?
  • I was just thinking about this very thing this morning.  I decided that would probably pick something he liked since the look on his face when he sees all the dinosaurs would be priceless.

I do like Jill's idea of letting her choose between two things.

  • I picked what I wanted for her 2nd, and her 3rd too.  Embarrassed

I figure from here on she'll get to help pick, but for now all she cared about was desserts and opening presents.  Smile

Dude, me too sista, me too!  Shoot I might even pick her 4th!  ;)  She could care less what cupcake topper she has, she just wants her friends and family to play with!

  • Okay... Since the majority picked for the 2nd bday, I won't feel like a bad mom for doing it too! I know she'll like whatever I do... She would just prefer an Elmo party and I was hoping to avoid it at least one more year! Haha! :) Now I need to start getting creative!!!

I've already picked N's 7th theme (camping). He'll be 3 next month and still couldn't care less and isn't into any characters enough to really care.

  • I used to be in Fisher's landing (on Mill Plain off of 205) but we are in Kent now.  Guess I should probably update that.  Oops.

I too have picked them all out so far.  Like tami said, Audrey is just so excited for everyone to come to her house for a partay.  I will continue to pick them as long as I can.  :)  Like Stacey, I already have her 7th or 8th picked out.  A jump rope party.  I would have loved that as a kid, so I'm forcing my liking on her.

  • I picked for him, but it was just cars & trucks which was something he loved.  I also picked this year for him, but it is Lightning McQueen & race cars which is also what he loves.  If he loved Elmo, I think I'd find something else he loves and then use that as the "theme."

  • You should totally pick it.  One day she is going to get big, have her own opinions and then you'll be stuck with what she wants!  I'm sure it will be awesome anyhow.  And FWIW I'm impressed all moms who manage parties with themes.  I can barely manage to get invites out and buy cake and ice cream!  Smile
