I know lots of people have a "I need to do this before the baby" comes list. I'm just curious what yours are, even if they're mundane like "clean the living room"
My list so far (I'm sure things will be added)
In the next 3 weeks I need to:
1) Wash all of DS's clothes
2) Reassemble and install the car seat and base (It was DD's)
3) pack and possible move to a different house (I have no control over this situation though... except the packing)
4) Get around to organizing DD's bday party and place all the orders.
Re: Those who are still pg: what is on your to do list before LO comes?
Its unlikely any of this will get done...
1) clean floors
2) clean bathrooms
3)make play list for delivery
1. I need to buy a monitor, since DD is still using hers
2. Wash a few more clothes
3. Organize the hand me downs we just got
4. Clean entire house one good time (this will have to be with DH, since I have no motivation or energy to clean)
5. Get a Sams membership again, and stock up on junk food for DD including juice boxes...since we will be home A LOT for the 1st month.
ha ha! here's my post from a few days ago!
https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/55401842.aspx
In the next 6 days, I need to:
1) transition all my work projects to other folks (I'm a control freak - and its more difficult than I thought it would be)
2) start nesting (hello. kick in already)
3) do everything possible to have this baby without induction (hello. husband
)
Mine is overwhelming:
1. Carpet DS #1's room (the guy did DS#2's room and is supposed to come back next week to do DS #1's room)
2. Furnish DS #2's room
3. Wash all of DS #2's clothes
4. Clean the house
5. Prep my cloth diapers!
So much of my list was waiting on getting the carpet in DS #2's room, which finally happened yesterday. I couldn't furnish it and had no place to put washed stuff, etc. until then and now we need to store DS #1's stuff in DS #2's room while the carpet is being put in there...so I am hoping DS #2 stays content in my long enough to get to this!
Nothing really. Maybe do some baking if I feel like it.
edit- nevermind.. reading some of these posts made me realize I have stuff to do
-Install carseat base (this WAS done, but dh decided to take it out to drive people around in our car.. ughhh)
-Pack my bag - I'll do this when it's time
-Buy some munchies to take with me to the hospital (cant buy them too soon because i'll eat them all)
We're going in for our c-section Tuesday so I actually just made out a to-do list for this weekend.
Install carseats in my, DHs, and my mom's cars.
Finish packing hospital bag
Set up baby gear (bouncer, swing, bassinet)
Stock each bathroom with feminine hygeine products and breast pads
Wash bottles and pump parts
Give the house one last thorough cleaning Monday
gah... so much!
1. Make appointment to have will drawn up. (We aren't millionaires or anything, but I don't want there to be family conflict, esp. about where DD would go.)
2. Finish nursery: secure dresser/changing pad; put up wall hangings; fix closet rack (this will be a pain); put up name decal (which won't come for about a week); hang new curtains; put up baby monitor
3. Purchase/learn new camera (old one broke recently)
4. Pack bags for hospital
5. Get work stuff finished/settled
6. Clean house
7. Install carseat/bases (have an appt. to do this at the police station on Monday)
8. Take DH's car to the mechanic for some minor fixes.
9. Schedule a dentist appt. (I'm due for my 6 month checkup, and I know it won't happen w/ a newborn)
10. Do Amazon.com registry completion.
11. Meet with dog sitter to give her a key and show her what puppy boy will need.
I really hope that's all... I just keep telling myself it doesn't actually all HAVE to be done. LO and DH and I will survive even if I go into labor tonight.
ETA: Oops! Hit post too soon!
Baby Stuff :: Figure out what to use as a changing table (If anything at all), get decorative boxes/dresser/organizer to put clothes away--they are just sitting folded nicely in the crib, hang up name sign. <-- I should get this done ASAP!
Cleaning & Other :: Spot steam clean some carpet and couches, clean kitchen/organize fridge and pantry, clean bathrooms, clean living rooms.
My family is coming to visit so all the cleaning has to be done by Thursday night.
Not much! Just a couple of things...
- Install the carseat base(it was done but we took it out).
- Pack a bag for DD to stay at my mom's while I'm in the hospital.
- Buy a new diaper bag.
- Get my camera fixed.
I highly doubt my list would fit on this message board ... so long!
However, if the baby decided to come tonight, I think that all of the things that 100% need to be done are all set.
The house might not be as clean as I want. I might not have everything hung up on the walls in the nursery. We may not have any food in the fridge. I may not have even found the perfect "going home outfit" for Mason. But if he decides to make an appearance, we'll get by. I am trying not to stress out about all of the little things.
I'd have to say that the only thing that I really need to do asap is buy a new camera. Mine got stolen a few weeks ago. I don't want to have my fiance searching for a 24 hour Walmart at 3am when I am in labor just so I can take baby's first photos. I can totally imagine that happening!!
To do list...
1) Vacuum nursery (cat and dog both love that room)
2) File FMLA paperwork (doing tomorrow)
3) general cleaning
House / Baby blog
-Install car seat
-Pack bags and Snack bag
-Check camera batteries and get a new memory card
-Figure out which outfit to use as going home
-Give my furbabies a bath...ok watch DH...
-Hopefully enjoy a few dates with DH.
1. Get a pedicure. I want to stare at pretty toes during delivery.
2. Figure out my FMLA stuff.
- We have just a few things to wash.
- Set up swing in living room.
- Set up PNP in bedroom.
Then on the fun side hubby and I are having date night tomorrow, I'm getting my hair and nails done, I'm going to buy some sports bras, dermaplast spray, and some throw pillows for the couch.
1) work
2) clean
3) retain sanity
1) Narrow down our names! Still have no clue...
2) Do some 'stock up' shopping - diapers, tp, paper towels, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc...
3) Plan/pack hospital bag (make sure batteries are charged, etc.)
4) Keep up with the house cleaning...
5) Wrap up some work projects, even though I plan on being here until I go into labor
6) Take infant CPR/First aid class
7) Find a corporate apartment rental for my parents & in-laws to stay when they come visit...I don't want them staying at our house!
1. Pack hospital bag (doing this today)
2. Install car seat (we have resisted because we are seriously considering buying a new car in the next week)
3. Waiting on a rocking chair for nursery (getting from friend this weekend) and some art prints from an Etsy seller in order to finish nursery
4. Get a taking home outfit (I have one, but I might bring an extra)
1. Clean bathroom
2. Buy accessory kit for breast pump (not sure where things ended up after DD...)
3. Reorganize/clean the "baby cupboard" in the kitchen.
4. Would like to do a few more freezer meals.
