New to The Bump

Newbie with OBGYN appt tomorrow

So, I'm also new here.  My DH and I will be ttc in January while in Jamaica celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary.  However, I have been off the pill since January 15, 2010.  Feb and March and April periods were all fine.  My May period was three weeks late.  I went to get my annual on May 11th and then started my period May 13th.  My pap came back abnormal with the results being ASCUS, with neg HPV and neg bacterial infections.  This was my first abnormal pap and I freaked out! No one could give me answers as to why it came back the way it did.  Fastforward to June....no period at all.  So, I scheduled an appointment with an OBGYN (I was seeing just a family doc before).

Finally, I started my period July 1st, but am still going to talk with the doctor tomorrow because I don't know what's going on with my body and really don't want a lot of problems ttc in January.  Eek.  I'm very nervous.  Has anyone experienced problems like this after being off the pill?  And I am 5'4" approximately 120lbs.  So, I'm not over/underweight either.

  • Hi..I'm just a lurker! Maybe for the Feb, March, and April periods your body was still on schedule as it was with the pill? With the other periods, that might be your body finally adjusting to not being on the pill. Def talk to your Dr. and keep tracking them yourself. You should be fine by January when you are ready to start TTC...I had been off the pill for 10 months before we started TTC and my periods were fine by then.

  • Thank you!! :o)  I'm a bit of a lurker too!! :)  So, the doc said that I need to gain some weight and exactly what you said...Feb, March and April were probably just on schedule from the horomones in the pill.  She also said that if you have  a pap that is ASCUS and is negative for HPV it's considered a normal pap!  Whew! I wish my family doctor would have told me that!  She also prescribed me prenatal vitamins to start taking.  I'm exciting to get on track and ready for a healthy baby!
  • Has anyone told you about charting?  It's not for everyone but it's a really good way to know how your cycles are and when you ovulate.  If you are interested you can take a tutorial at fertilityfriend.com, it's a great resource and it'll save you from being late and getting negative HPTs because you ovulated late and just didn't know it.  I wish you so much luck and I'm glad your pap turned out to be normal!

  • Thank you so much for the information and well wishes!  No one has told me about charting.  I signed up for fertilityfriend, but wasn't able to mess around on it a lot last night.  So I'll do some exploring tonight!  Lord knows I could use less HPTs... :) I think I should buy stock in them! :-)
