The other day I ate a whole tomato, raw, straight from the fridge. I didn't think too much of it because it wasn't the first time I craved fresh tomatoes. Just the first time I ate a whole one. But then today while I was cooking dinner I got an overwhelming urge to eat some of the raw potato I was chopping. I ended up eating an entire raw potato with sea salt. And it was so good! WTF? Am I on the slippery slope to eating freezer frost and whatnot?
Re: Is this going to culminate in me eating laundry detergent?
Ewww, the thought of raw potato makes me gag! But look at the bright side....at least it's food items you're craving. I don't think it's considered pica as long as the items you're craving are edible.
This exactly...especially in tomato season.
I have never eaten a raw potato myself but I had a friend at one point that liked them, so I don't think of it as that weird. But on my list of reasons to call the doctor, one of them is cravings to eat non-food items - I never thought that could be a pregnancy symptom!
Snuggle.
