Austin Babies

Vent

DH's soccer friend EMAILed him a scanned wedding invite (because they ran out of paper???) for this Friday at 6pm. The invite specifically requested cash. I just found out that the ceremony will be outside and reception is in a non air conditioned facility. I'm pissed that DH RSVPed yes and is making me go with him. The whole thing seems to miserable and I've met the groom one time. Whine whine whine...

Re: Vent

  • That sorta thing happened to us too- except DH was in the wedding in August, I was 7 months pregnant, and everything was outside.  I just about died.

Oh, and we never actually got on invitation.  Indifferent

  • Wow. That's really, really bad in every possible kind of way!

And who the heck plans an outdoor ceremony and non-A/C reception during the Austin summer? Do you not like your friends and family?

  • Um...did everyone get an e-vite or was it just that y'all were a last-minute addition (sorry - I hope that's not rude, but that's how it seems) b/c they want more cash?  I would've told DH that there is no way in he|| that I'd go to a summer wedding in TX w/no A/C and that he can have fun by himself w/all that tackiness.  Wink

  • I think they want us to drop off a check and leave. (which at this point would be my preference. Sadly, DH I'd the nicest guy ever and he can't wait to take the opportunity to celebrate with his friend.) bah humbug.
  • That is totally sucky on so many levels.  Sorry you will have to go and melt in the Texas heat.

  • I'm assuming it will also be a cash bar, in which case you'd better ask mc for those flasks. Stat.

I think I'm going to purposely stay sober just so I can maintain my bad attitude throughout.  I'm way too much fun after a few drinks.  :-)

I'm feeling a little passive aggressive towards DH today.

  • rude, rude, rude. can you play sick at the last minute? :)

My DH is the same way. I agree with pp that it looks like they didn't get enough yesses and last minute decided to invite you, hoping they would get a check. So unbelieveably tacky on so many levels. It frustrates me and has caused many an issue between DH and myself about his inability to see that side of people and his choice to let people take advantage of him.

DH plays on several softball leagues. When we were wedding planning, he would come home all the time after a game and ask if we can add someone he forgot. It would always be someone he has "played with/against for YEARS!". It drove me crazy... every bit of etiquette was forgotten because some of these invitations were sent out AFTER the RSVP deadline!!!Some of the invites we mailed and others he hand-carried to the next game.

It took me a while to realize... it was a guy thing. They didn't care they were being added last minute. Didn't care about the deadline. Didn't care about etiquette. They just wanted to come party. I should also add that they didn't seem to care about a gift either as NONE of them brought anything.

    GRRRRRRRR.....

The request for cash and the heat part... SO not okay!!
