Anyone's LO still really cranky?

My son will be 8 weeks on Friday and his crankiness just seems to be getting worse. He cries a lot. We can't put him down for more than 5 mins (while awake) without him crying. He has also started to dislike the car. He used to enjoy going out, and now it seems like he hates it (but I can't stay in all day or I will go crazy).
I was hoping he would be calming down soon :(

Re: Anyone's LO still really cranky?

  • Mine!! My LO will be 9 weeks tomorrow and she's still very cranky. She is in a good mood in the morning when she wakes up, but she wakes up mad after her morning nap and doesn't really cheer up until the next morning!! She is content if we're holding her and bouncing her or singing/dancing, but we really cannot put her down for more than about 10 minutes at a time. She likes car rides, but hates being in her carseat if we're not in the car, so shopping trips are out of the question, as is eating out. I haven't been inside a restaurant since before she was born. I keep hearing they kinda snap out of it around the 3 month mark so I'm hopeful :)

  • Mine is fussy in the late evening. Depends on the night, some nights she just needs to be held, some nights is an all out scream fest. But When I use a wrap, she usually alms down. Have you tried a wrap, sling or other carrier?

He loves his carrier, but unfortunately I am having some problems with my c-section incision and I can't wear it right now. I wore it over the weekend and it was great. I hope to be able to wear it again soon. DH wears it when he is home.

This sounds so much like my son. It is hard when you have a toddler at home!

So do you go out at all? I can't stand to stay in all of the time, but the crying in public is not fun!

We go out for very short periods of time. I actually just got back from shopping, but we only made it to 2 stores before she was screaming her head off, so we left to come home. I have a Moby and I think she would do better in it, but it's SO HOT here (Houston) and that wrap is very hot. I'm trying to get brave enough to take her grocery shopping (I've been going one weekend morning early so DH can stay home with her) one day during the week in the wrap, but I'm nervous that she'll get mad mid-trip and I'll be stuck with a cart full of groceries!

And I should correct myself - she is in a good mood after she eats! She'll eat, be happy for about 45 minute to an hour, then is cranky again until the next feed. And she loves bathtime. Thankfully she isn't colicky - we can almost always console her, she's just needs a lot of attention and it's exhausting!!

Sounds exactly like my daughter! No suggestions but hope it gets better for us all!!
  • I don't even get hapy after he eats. I never get 45 - 60 mins of awake + alert + happy time. I get 5 - 10 mins, maybe.

  • the past two weeks have been hell at our house! same thing! yesterday and today for whatever reason, she is back to normal! but the only thing that we could do to calm her was walk and bounce her. other than that, the second she was put down or in her bouncer or her swing...she went nuts and would scream her little head off! we didn't do anything, she just snapped out of it on her own. hoepfully she will stay this way!
