What do your nights look like? If you LO is sleeping long stretches, what do you think the reason is? Any tips?
Ours:
10:30: bath every other day, change into pajamas
11:00 last bottle, swaddle and put into cradle
3:00-3:30- wake up for bottle, will usually go right back down but lately has been fussy and takes a while to fall back asleep
7:00-7:30- Wake up for bottle and for the day
Re: What is your LOs Sleep like?
Bath every other night at 8:30 (non bath nights we start bedtime process at 9:00)
9:00 - nurse him - he falls asleep by 9:30 or 10:00pm
He then sleeps between 3.5 hours and 6 hours ( 6 hours only happened 3 times, average is about 4.5 (seems to depend on how much he feels like eating before bed). He wakes only 1 or 2 times and only wants to nurse for about a half hour. He's a "nip-napper" and falls asleep while nursing or being burped.
He wakes up between 6:30 am and 7:00 am
Why do I think he sleeps a decent amount at night - he WILL NOT nap during the day for more than 20 minutes at a time and usually that's only 3 times max on a good day unless he's in my arms - then maybe a little longer. He also hits happy hour (6:00 to 8:00 pm and is a cranky mess) So I think he tires himself out not taking naps in the day and fussing before bedtime. He also screams during baths (unless we sing - then he calms a little) - so bath time expends all his energy and he goes down pretty quick. Based on our days - I need the 4.5 to 6 hours of sleep without him in my arms or I'd go insane!
We start bedtime routine around 8:30 or 9 - bath, bottle, book, bed. She usually is asleep by 10pm. Some nights she wakes up at 2 or 3am for a small snack (usually a 2oz bottle) but lately she has been sleeping until 5am.
She sleeps that long because I'm FF (which my pedi helps with longer sleep), she takes plenty of naps during the day (ala Dr. Weissbluth - baby's need naps and the better rested during the day, the longer stretches at night) and she's a BIG baby - she was 9lbs 9oz at birth and is over 12lbs now. And of course, just dumb luck - we're lucky she is a good sleeper, I thank God every night.
His sleep patterns are getting a bit more regular, it usually goes something like this (all times are estimates):
9:30pm - Get ready for bed: bath or just a wipe of the hands, head and face depending on the day, change into pajamas.
10:00pm: Feed & burp, if he is asleep I will put him in his crib otherwise I will rock him and sing/hum to him until he is asleep.
3am - feed & burp, rock to sleep
6am wakes up, feed & diaper change, I usually talk to him a lot during this time because he is so smiley and happy.
7:30 to 8:30am nap, usually poops during this time and wakes up for a diaper change.
Naps during the day are a crap-shoot. Sometimes he sleeps a lot in the day other days he only naps for 20 to 30 minutes at a time. It depends on what we are up to that day. Roughly, there is usually naps between 10am to 12pm, 2pm to 4pm and 5 to 8pm.
I think he is sleeping more because he weighs more (about 11lbs). We didn't really do anything different, he just started getting to a routine on his own.
Baby #2 on the way!
What do your nights look like?
My DD just started STTN. Sometimes she sill gets up in the middle to eat, but it depends on when she goes to bed.
She goes to bed whenever. It depends on when she takes naps during the day and she has NO schedule at all (which is fine since I am a SAHM). Usually she falls to sleep at 9:30 and wakes up around 5-5:30. If I go to bed at 10:30 that's 7 hours of sleep and I'm okay with that.. that's more than enough sleep for me.

Honestly I think some babies just need time. Lydia has her own ideas about things and I really try not to force her. I used to try to follow a schedule and that just didn't work for us. Also, I keep a sleep tracker, and that way I can look at it and go 'okay when she sleeps x amount of hours in the day, she sleeps x amount of hours at night'. It's really helped me.
8:30ish - bath or wash face, diaper change, pjs, nurse
9:00ish - put in PNP if asleep, or bounce him to sleep
midnight-ish - Wakes and eats
2:30-3:00-ish - wakes and eats; diaper change
4:30-5:00-ish - wakes and eats
7:00-9:00 - up for the day
He naps for 20-30 minutes every 2 hours or so during the day and usually has one 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon.
I am going to throw a party when he finally sleeps in longer stretches at night.
the only thing that I think helps is making sure he eats every three hours during the day. Sometimes he could nap a little longer but o try and keep it to no longer than 3 hours between feedings. But I've been doing thus since long before he STTN so I don't know if it helps or not. Sorry about format I am on iphone
Pretty unpredictable!
We do things the same way we did with my first. She never slept! EVER! She was 18 months before she didn't get me up in the middle of the night for a feeding.
Avery is a better sleeper, and I don't think for any other reason other than her personality, and it's just how she is. She will sleep some nights for 8 hours or more, but most nights she has a 5 hour stretch and then gets up to eat, and is up every 2 hours there after.
On the 4th of July he went to bed at 9pm, woke up at 5am for a feed, back to sleep till 11am. It was amazing! But a fluke I think.
Then last night he went to bed at 1am, woke up for a feed around 6am, and back to sleep till 10am.
We start our nighttime routine around 7:30, and DD is typically asleep in her bassinet by 8 or so. Her routine has been thrown off a little by our trip out of town for the July 4th holiday. The night before we left, she slept an 8 hour stretch, but she's been back to her normal wake-up routine since we got back.
7:30 - bedtime routine
8:00 - in bed asleep
2:00 - wake to eat
3:00 - back asleep
5:30 - wake for the day

This has been what has been happening the past few nights:
Between 7-9, dinner, kids get baths (every other night), jammies, story and bed. Lily (DD3) gets nursed and is goes to sleep. Wakes up at/around 11pm, diaper change, swaddle and nurse, back to bed. Between 3-4 wakes up diaper change, swaddle, nurse, back to bed. We all wake up when our early bird DD1 wakes up at around 7 because she is loud. Lily usually goes back to bed after I nurse and change her until about 9ish.
