Any have Safety First Complete Air 65 Convertible Seat?

If so, do you like it, and does it fit well in a smaller car?   TIA!

  • We have one...DD (9 months old) is using it currently. I like it, however in the rear-facing position which we have it in its rather bulky. We have a large SUV and its seems to take up way too much space. it even slightly touches my passenger seat.

I certainly wouldnt put a newborn in it.

  • Thanks...Our son is almost 9 months and is 75th percentile for height so we are in need of something other than his infant seat.

  • Yeah we transitioned LO into her Convertible Seat around 8 months. She was in the 95th Percentile.

  • I bought one this week and took it back today.  The regular 65 is a total PITA to get the correct angle with for rear facing.  I'm pretty darn handy at installing car seats, and this thing needed 2-3 pool noodles or a big rolled towel to get it to a 30 degree angle for my 18 month old.  For a 8-9 month old, it needs to be at a 45 degree angle.

If you think you might want one, I'd try to find a 65 SE or 65 LX locally and do a test install.  These versions have a reclining base that should help get the seat installed correctly, although I've heard even they might need a noodle or rolled towel.

Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the seat itself.  It seems sort of cheap to me, especially for the price.  The frame is almost entirely plastic, some parts being very thin.  I am used to Britax seats though, which are metal reinforced, we settled on a Radian which has a metal frame inside.  My son is 98th percentile for height.

  • It is made by Dorel which is always having recalls on their seats.  The shell of the seat is the same as the Alpha Omega or Cosco Scenera (cheaper) with air pockets on the sides.  The install on all DOREL seats (Cosco, Eddie Bauer, Safety First) all have terrible rear facing installs.

I would skip it and go for something like the Graco MyRide 65 if you are going to pay that price.

  • Thanks for the responses.  The MyRide is definitely one of our other options.
