Relocating to Greenwood

Hi Ladies,

I hope everyone is doing great and trying to stay out of this HOT weather!  I am relocating to Greenwood, Indiana and was just wondering if anyone had a suggestions on where to live or where to look for properties to rent in Greenwood?  My husband just accepted a position near there and we are (mostly me) panicking looking for a place to live.  Any ideas or suggestions would be super helpful. We are looking for a house to rent.  Thanks Ladies!

Re: Relocating to Greenwood

  • The Center Grove area is very nice. Franklin Township might be slightly cheaper but they have the highest taxes. Southport/Homecroft is okay but very affordable and there is alot of properties for rent in that area, but stay away from the Keystone (south)  area...super cheap but rough. Hope this helps!

  • I agree with all of the above. We live downtown but have thought about possibly moving to the Center Grove area when the kids are older. My husband grew up in the Homecroft area and feels like it is family-friendly. Mostly I just wanted to say welcome and good luck finding a good fit!

  • We live in Greenwood, moved here about 3 years ago.  We are originally from CA, made the big move to south Indianapolis for a few years, then built our home and moved to Greenwood.  We love it here!  Taxes are definitely cheaper in this county (johnson) than in Marion. Most of Greenwood is pretty good from what I have seen. For commute purposes, you may want to try finding a rental near Highway 31 or off the 65 freeway. Try doing searches on rental sites and just put in Greenwood, IN. You could also look for local real estate agents in the area, they usually deal with rentals too. That is how I found my Mom a rental house when she first moved here before her house was done being built as well.

  • I live in Franklin Township (right off 65) and we love it.  There are several nice homes for rent right around us.  Our best friends live in the Center Grove area and it is also very nice.  Homes are likely more expensive, but property taxes are lower.  Is your DH's work by any of the major highways?  Feel free to PM with any questions!

  • Thanks for the suggestions ladies.  MH job is pretty close to 65 and 44.  I am just starting to panic a little because we have found a few places, but when we call they are either in contract or not what we wanted.  Thanks for the advice on areas.  We are in our current apartment until the 18th of August and I just pray we find something in time.  We have very limited time so it is going to be close.  Thanks again ladies!
