What's your Target number? :)

I swear that more often than not, my total at Target is $80ish.  It's like there's some sort of beacon that leads me around the entire store in an attempt to get me to spend $80.  Today, once again, it worked :-p

  • Lucky!  Mine is about $120!

  • I don't think I have a Target number, but my Costco number is definitely in increments of $100.  We're always within $10 of an even 100.  Yesterday it was $196.

  • Mine is $80, too. No matter how hard I try!!!!!
  • My Target number seems to be about 60 bucks.  Although I've def spent way more.

Funny, I was just telling someone yesterday that both Target and Costco are the same for me......dangerous to shop in because I rarely get in and out of either without spending about $100!!!!

  • Target is known as the "Black Hole" in my family and we can't seem to walk out without hitting the $90 to $100 mark! I am so impressed with myself if I go in for a few things and ONLY get those things, not one other item! Unfortunately, this rarely happens.

Is it better that I got the Target Debit card so I am at least saving that 5%?

My Sams is usually about $150 (w/o meat) or $200 (w/meat) and Walmart is $100 (no med or shampoo, etc) or $150 (big trip with meds and TP, etc.)
  • I can NOT get out of that place for under $100.  Which is why I tell myself it's okay that the nearest Target is an hour away (SOB!)

Oh you're in Boston, so you'll understand the difference between the Targets.  If I go to a *nice* Target, like the ones in Revere or Watertown, I will spend more (usually $50 or $75).  If I go to a crappy one, like the one in Everett or Saugus (though, admittedly, Everett is getting better), I usually get so annoyed that they don't have what I want that I end up spending very little.  It's probably better for my wallet if I don't go to the nice ones! :)

I'm stuck near the crappy Saugus one.  WTF is the Revere one?!?!  My "good" Target is in Danvers but I'm rarely willing to drive that far.

Ummm yeah dude where is the Revere one?  I agree the best one is Danvers, but I'll on there if I'm on my way to see family.  The Target in Haverhill is awful!

I just looked it up - it's sort of near the Beachmont train station, which is two stops from Wonderland.  Might have to check it out.  It says it's 10 minutes from my place and the crappy Target isn't much closer.

  • What is up with that? On the plus side, I got a booklet of Target coupons in the mail the other day. They are good coupons that I will actually use, most for a $1 to $1.50 off items. Don't know why they sent those to me, but glad they did!

  • $50 for me
  • Well, LUCKILY it's only around $50.  And I have to be extra restrained now with our new budget that includes two kids instead of just one so I got out of there at $31.98 last week.  My only intention was a pair of shoes for DS but that darn baby section is like a magnet.

  • I'm usually in the $100 range.

I did get their credit card, which is good and bad. Good I save 5% bad, because I shop there the most and am now not earning points on my other card, but I have a rule if its under $50 I use the regular credit card, which hardly happens.

On another note, I love coupon pairing at Target!! Great deals on some things, that way!

  • Yesterday, it ws $20!!!

I got a $10 birthday gift for a friend's baby, 2 dollar section books for the girls, 2 cheap pasta side dishes and some flavored bottled water for me.

  • usually around $50
  • I'm a solid $150.  We no sooner got DS #1 potty trained and DS #2 off formula to cut the Target bill and we moved to a new house.  I think I've pretty much got the house organized, so I'd like to go back to about $75 in the near future.

  • Wow! Yall's numbers are a lot higher than mine, lol! I, typically, spend around $30 at Target, but I could easily spend more if I had the money! We don't do grocery or household item shopping at Target, it's mainly for Tegan's diapers and other baby items.

  • I'd say it averages around $30. Sometimes I manage around $20, and sometimes I cringe and spend $60, but typically in between.

That being said, it's a rare week that I don't go to Target at least twice, so I certainly give them too much money overall.

We call Costco the "Hundred Dollar Store".

Yeah, we buy all of our diapers and wipes (and used to buy formula) from Costco.  We now have the gold membership which gives a 2% rebate at the end of the year... better than nothing.

  • It's generally a good day if I make it out of Target for less than $100. I tend to only go there for clothes and shoes for the kiddos though, so maybe that's why.

& incase you didn't know, you can stack those with manuf. coupons also--so like for the huggies/pampers coupons, you can save big :-)

Same with the toiletries stuff that's in there & in the P&G monthly mailer!

Yeah, the Revere one is on par with the Danvers one.  It's in Beachmont by Suffolk Downs!  Tons of parking, and there's a Starbucks so that's a bonus! ;)

You guys are all forgetting about Woburn!  Framingham was my favorite but I live way too far away now.

  • I once heard a guy on the radio discussing how they should rename Target "the $80 store".  I laughed because it was so true.  Target has probably done some market research and studied exactly what products to stock their shelves with and in what locations to make sure people spend at least $80 per trip.  1 item or 20...I always spend around $80.  One of the people on my local board gave up shopping at Target for Lent.  I think I am going to next year.  Since I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart and it's pretty far away, I assume I will save a lot of money.
