I am or at least trying to remember to take them. I have low iron so I need something. I can really tell if I don't with weakness. I was taking them when we were TTA and TTC so I don't think there is a time that we have to stop taking them.
I was on a regular multivitamin for women throughout my entire pregnancy - and continue taking them to this day (every other day or so) - without any problems or deficiencies. You're pretty much just paying for very expensive urine If you have an actual deficiency, you should take supplements for what is that you need - like iron, etc. No need to spend so much money on the horse pills

I am no longer on pre-natals but I do take a daily multi-vitamin plus a 1mg folic acid (the folic acid is per my neurologists advice in case I were to get pregnant again any time soon *knock over and over again on wood*)
I buy the store brand so its not expensive and no bigger than any other pill I've taken before....I think gel caps are worse but that is my opinion. I see them as any other multi-vitamin
I'm taking prenatals until I'm done with them. I probably have another month's worth or so. I figure they're very similar to my regular multi, so why not?
I have continued to take Flintstones (2 each day) and the calcium supplement (2 each day) that I took while pregnant. The Calcium is bc I don't eat much in the way of dairy - it makes me feel gross.
Baby Boy Born 3.15.11. 8lb 9oz, 21.75in.
6 month stats: 20lb 11oz (92%tile), 30.12in.(100%tile - who knew it went over 99th? Which means 100% of other 6 month olds are shorter than mine!)
I was told to take them for 3 months after childbirth/bf.
I am still taking them though, but I switched to the otc kind. I plan to take them through my child bearing years. The oct ones don't cost anymore than a regular multi and it has the extra folic acid. I will go back on the prescription kind when I start ttc, because they are better if you have morning sickness.
I'm still taking them as well as calcium, vitamin D, folic acid and Omega-3 DHA. I'm breastfeeding and will change to a regular multi-vitamin once we have weaned. I had a hard time remembering to take them so I set an alarm on my phone to go off each night around dinner time and I take them then. I'm doing much better with taking them by having the alarm. I use the Up & Up brand from Target, so it really isn't costing me that much extra.
