Excruciating Back Pain!

For the past couple days I have been experiencing the most intense back pain of my life.  It just keeps getting worse. I can't stand up straight, and it hurts regardless of what I'm doing - including lying down.  Just tonight it began shooting down both my legs, but is worst on my right side.

I'm taking ibuprofen but holy hell, this is nasty stuff.  I'm able to nurse ok, but holding LO in any other position is incredibly painful. I'll be calling my doc tomorrow, but I'm wondering if anyone else experienced anything like this? I had back pain while PG but this is def worse.

Re: Excruciating Back Pain!

  • yes.  it felt better later in the day, but was horrible at night and in the AM.  It is finally getting better.  I just have been doing yoga stretches and trying to bend from the knees, etc.  I also stopped wearing DD2 for a couple weeks, that seemed to help.

  • Any other symptoms? That was my main symptom with my gallstones. Does it get worse when you eat or drink? Could it be a bladder infection or something?

It doesn't seem to get worse or better with food or drink. My DH is going to give me some acupuncture (he used to be an acupuncturist) right now. I've never let him do this to me before because I'm a chicken but I'm that desperate and it has worked for a few of our friends.

  • I had back pain like that too...mine felt like someone was trying to pull apart my shoulder blades. It had no corelation to food or drink and would come and go. I asked my OB after LO was born and she said it was from pushing and to put a heating pad on it and not to worry. 6 weeks later (2 weeks ago now) I ended up in the ER and had my gallbladder out :( You just never know....I had no other symptoms either
