H and I were thinking about going to Las Vegas for our Babymoon. Has anyone else gone to Vegas while pregnant? How did you deal with the smoke? H and I plan to go to the pool, eat at nice restaraunts, and maybe see a show.

This doesn't exactly answer your questions, but DH and I are going to Vegas in about 3 weeks. It's not exactly a babymoon....friend of ours are eloping.....but its a 4 day vacation none the less. I personally plan on being by the pool, eating out, and possibly catching a show. Neither of us gamble so I hope to steer clear of the main parts of the casino to avoid the smoke as much as possible. Just remember that is blazing hot and dry so we have to remember to tote around water everywhere

I haven't been there while pregnant, but you could still have alot of fun. The food and pools there are AMAZING. As long as you aren't in the casinos alot you shouldn't have to deal with much smoke. Have fun.. I'm jealous!
I wouldn't enjoy it, but I don't enjoy Vegas when I'm able to drink either. If I was planning to eat good food and sit at the pool, I'd probably try to find some place a little less touristy.
I lived in Vegas for about 5 years. I worked in the casinos.
The smoke is out of control if you are planning on gambling. If you are not - then just be sure to do what you are there to do in the casinos and get out. I used to come home and my SO would swear it was me smoking two packs a night I would stink so badly.
Also if you are planning on a massage in one of the spas - BE CAREFUL - not all have a trained therapist on staff that can handle pre-natal massage. There is a smaller town called Mesquite you can look into as well - but FYI they are in the midst of summer now.....VERY HOT!!!! I'm not sure how far along you are but keep in mind lots of extra water!!!! We already dehydrate easily and Vegas is a very dry climate. I would watch people drop over in the casinos all the time and be taken out for severe dehydration and about 30% had not drank a drop of alcohol.
And I almost forgot ASK FOR A NON SMOKING ROOM - the old smoking rooms STINK!!!!! And being that we have ultra sensitive noses a lot of the times it would be terrible if you got a stinky room.
Best restaurants are in the Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Palazzo and a few in Caesars. Shows - best ones I heard about when there not even 6 months ago (just moved home) were Jersey Boys, O, Mystere, Ka, and Love. Most of the others are just .....there. Pools - PAY FOR A CABANA. It will keep you cool but you can still walk outside for some sun.
Have fun - enjoy it and remember the second hand smoke gets out of control in the casinos only.
Could you please let me in on this scoop of babymoon. I have heard the term many times, but as this is my 1st baby, i'm lacking the info on lots of the terms. TIA...I think either way though, Vegas is what you make it. Enjoying the pools and food sounds like a blast!
I wasn't gambling much so the smoke didn't bother me. My problem was I was too curious and wanted to see everything. I got really tired really fast. It's so hot there during summer and you really need to walk everywhere.
On the bright side, we had the most wonderful bed, the food was absolutely delicious and the shows are AMAZING! I love Cirque du Soleil!
We just got back from six days in Vegas. I didn't find the smoke to be an issue at all, but neither one of us are gamblers so time in the casinos was minimal and pretty much just when we were passing through. Bring water whereever you go and you should make sure to pack good running shoes and a maternity support belt, if you're using one. Mine was a godsend with all of the walking.
My husband and I are thinking the same thing. We go to Vegas about once or twice a year. Trying to get one more trip in before the baby is here. We kind of had the same plan of pool, see some shows, eat and maybe a spa day for me? I am going to go for it, if all else fails, I will sleep and order room service
Well, pretty much all the shows/restaurants/touristy things are in casinos, so you have to brave the smoke to get everywhere. You could walk the strip or hang out by the pool, but keep in mind that it's HOT here and the casinos all have AC.
Green Vally Ranch is nice, has an awesome pool, a cute little shopping district next door, and is off the strip. Red Rock Station is nice too, another off-the-strip option.

I got married in Vegas and my maid of honor was prego at the time. She had a hard time walking around in the dry heat because her skin was more dried out and it caused her a lot of pain. Also the heat seems to make swelling more of a problem (i've already experienced this now that i'm prego). I also noticed my nose and eyes dried up more when I was in there so staying on top of hydration in Vegas is a lot more difficult.
I love Vegas but it may not be the best place to go depending on what you plan to do and how much you will walk around.
My girlfriends do an annual trip and we stayed at a hotel in City Center this last time which has no casino and therefore no smoking. The entire hotel is smoke-free. We liked it a lot. The last few years it seems that a real effort is being made to ventilate the casinos a bit better so they seemed less stinky the past few times we went.
DH and I are planning to save money and go to Vegas for our babymoon in September too. Our plan is to get a cabanna by the pool, see O, and eat at a couple of my favorite places - Mastro's Ocean Club at City Center and Strip Steak in Mandalay Bay. If you eat at Strip Steak you MUST get the duck fat fries. Sounds overindulgent, but that's what Vegas is for! Have fun.

DH and I are going in two weeks, plan to Valet the car to avoid walking thought the hot garages, the pool, room service, avoiding the middle of the day (we are night owls anyways), walking on the "main walkways" in the casino because the people traffic move quickly and you can avoid the gamblers smoking.

I live in Vegas and DH and I frequent the Strip about 1-2 times per month (we like to walk). I would recommend not dawdling too long in the casinos. There is a lot of smoke around the tables and slots, but if you stick to the main thoroughfares in the casinos you should be okay. I would also recommend one of the nicer hotels, such as the Bellagio, Cesar's, or the Venetian. I don't notice the smoke as much in those casinos as some of the other ones on The Strip.
The biggest concern is make sure to bring lots of water/water bottles with you when you are out and about. Dehydration is a major concern and because of the dryness of the area, you don't often realize how dehydrated you are until it is too late. I don't know when you're thinking of coming, but do keep in mind that from mid July to the end of Sept or so temps can reach 120 degrees F here. You will burn easily, even if outside for a few minutes so bring a hat.
Otherwise, I think you should be okay. Vegas is a great place to visit and there's plenty to do without gambling.
