Any one know how to get old formula stains out of white clothes

I have some white onsies from my daughter that I want to reuse but they are stained with formula. i was going to bleach them but I don't think that would be good for baby's skin. Does anyone have any safe detergants that might get this out, or is this a lost cause?

  • I've heard that letting stained clothes sit in the sun will help get the stains out. Haven't tried it though.

  • Personally, I would bleach and then rinse really well.  I had some bibs with formula stains that I did this to this week.  I tried sunning them, but it didn't really help.

Bleach is pretty volatile and reactive.   As long as you rinse well, it should be perfectly fine.  A lot of people who cloth diaper use bleach on their diapers without issue...me included.

  • Try soaking in Oxyclean...then washing regularly.  I wouldn't bleach, personally.

I've used Oxyclean to get all sorts of stains out.  We started w/ the Baby version, then went to the Free.  Now we just use regular Oxyclean since it's always on a great sale at Costco.  Plus DD doesn't have any allergies to it.

  • I would bleach the clothes, then wash again in baby safe detergent (we use ALL Free and Clear) and then let sit in the sun to dry.  Should be good to go!
