3 cm dilated and 50 % effaced - now what?

i am scheduled for a c section on Wednesday but the doc offered to check so I did it out of curiosity - now I am wondering if I will go into labor on my own before Wednesday?  The doc said there is a good chance  but geez now I am more confused than ever.  I know it could mean nothing as well!  What do you guys think?  Anyone find out they were 3 cm and not go into labor for a while?

    It doesn't mean anything. I've been 2.5cm and 50% effaced (with my cervix softening) for two weeks and nothing......they are just numbers. You could go into labor at any time no matter what your numbers are.

    I am 3cm too and they just scheduled me for an induction for next week.  I feel like this baby will never get here!

    I was about 3cm and I think 60% at my 40 week appointment.  I am scheduled for an induction tomorrow, but I actually think labor is starting now.  GL!

    I've been 4cm & 80% effaced for a week now too. Doesn't mean anything. Every time they do an internal & start loosing some of my mucous plug too.  I'm not scheduled for an induction. I'm just walking & cleaning alot. I'm going to ask my MW about using castor oil tomorrow. At my sono this week, the tech said the babies still have plenty of room (really? I have 13lbs. of baby in me!). They still move around a ton & I've heard towards the end it should slow down. GL!

    Sorry, but it doesn't mean much. I had a friend who was dilated 3cm for a week and then 4cm for another 10 days before she finally went into labor. I think that's the hardest part of all of this- not knowing when it's coming.
