Has anyone had any experience with this pump, or know anything about it?
I can get my insurance company to cover a pump but I'm having trouble finding a local DME provider that stocks Medela pumps (or really, any pumps at all). I did find a place that stocks a couple models of this pump. It seems to get good reviews, but they are sparse.
Thanks for any help.
Re: Hygeia EnJoye pump?

I'm not a regular on this board, and I haven't actually used the pump (yet - LO due end of august), BUT I actually drove about 3 hours each way to buy exactly this pump a few weeks ago because it's not available in Canada and it is the pump that I want.
Reasons I like it:
- They have a fully closed system, which prevents milk from backing up into the motor (Medela and many other pumps have an open system, which is why they are only recommended for one user and you have to throw them out after). Fully closed system means no risk of mould and it means I just have to buy new accessories and I can use it with all my future babies. Plus it can be shared between moms (as long as each has her own accessory set)
- They are environmentally conscious - Hygeia intentionally designed this pump so that it would not end up in the landfill after one user. In fact, after you are done with it or when it reaches the end of its life (I imagine it breaks down at some point), they will take it back and recycle it for you.
Ok, those are the two main reasons. I've also read reviews that say it's quieter than most other fully automatic pumps, and it has a neat feature of having play and record buttons on it that let you record and playback the sounds of your baby to help you let down when you're pumping.
All this said, I actually plan to EBF, but I decided that it was worth it to invest now in a good pump that I like from a company whose values I respect so that when I go back to work when LO is a year old I will be able to pump for him/her. Also, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it, especially since it involved a road trip across the border. I guess also, if I don't use it, I'll have it for future babies

I have this pump and I like it a lot. I have never used a Medela to compare, but I can't imagine it being better.
Pros:
I love that it's a closed system and that I may be able to sell it when I'm done with it. It is pretty light and I often bring it with me when I'm going to be out of the house for more than a few hours. It's quiet enough to use in the same room as my sleeping baby. Easy to clean and durable.
Cons:
I think the sound record function is silly and I haven't used it (except when I accidentally bump into the button). I haven't had to replace any valves or parts, but they aren't that easy to find for decent prices. The valves are pretty sturdy (I hear some of the Medela parts are flimsy) so I'm not sure they need to be replaced regularly but it's a good idea to have spares.
I have been using mine daily for 5 months. Let me know if you have any more specific questions.
I have this pump and I love it. I've had it for 2 years and used it with DD#1 and now DD#2. It's very durable, the closed system is great, quiet, and so on as PPs said.
I've only had to replace the little rubber part that goes on the inside of the shield and that cost me $7.
I highly recommend it!
I just finished using this pump with my DD. I pumped 3x a day at work for 9 months to give her bottles for daycare.
I was the second user of my pump, and loved that all I had to do was buy a personal accessory kit since it's a closed system. It worked great! I had the rechargeable battery version, and it worked great and only had to be charged once, maybe twice a week.
I ordered a few extra valves and one set of tubing from breastpumpsdirect.com just to have available if I would need them since replacement parts aren't as readily available as other brands. I replaced my valves twice in 9 months just to get better suction as my supply took a couple nose-dives when we introduced solids, teething, etc.
When we decide to go for #2 I won't have my borrowed pump available to me, so I know that I will be buying a Hygeia for myself at that time.
