When should I transition ds to his crib. I don't want to bedshare as he gets older but I know the longer we do it the harder it will be. I'm not ready to do it yet but what's the latest I can transition him and not have the attachment issues.
How old is he? I've been doing a lot of reading by Dr. Sears and in his book, "The Baby Book" he talks about how babies will transition when they're ready. He also says, "....by three years of age children can understand that nighttime is for sleeping and everybody needs to sleep. Eventually she will spend more time in her own bed and come into your room only during times of stress, such as an illness, a move, or any of life's little upsets that can disturb a child's sleep. Don't worry, your child will eventually leave your bed".
I don't know if that helps, but Dr. Sears is a big advocate for being sure that your child will transition to their own bed on their own when they're ready.
Maybe you can take him to buy a "special" stuffed animal and tell him that he can only have it when he's in his bed? It might motivate him to go to his bed and the animal may give him some security. Just a thought.....
