Major Leakage-Breast Pad Recommendations

I would like to use reusable breast pads. I currently have some, but I leak through them even for a short trip to the store. It's so frustrating. The only thing that works is if I take a prefold and put it in my bra. The problem is that is too large to wear in public.

Any recommendations for heavy leakage would be much appreciated! :)

Re: Major Leakage-Breast Pad Recommendations

  • I am a heavy leaker at night and have to use disposable (Lansinoh) because I soak through the cloth ones...But I'm interested to see suggestions as I have tried a few kinds with no luck myself...

  • I couldn't wear the resusable pads until much later, for the first 3-4 months I had to wear the disposable Lansinoh ones.

If you get some made with PUL backing they should work, similar to a cloth diaper.  I had some but didn't like the particular ones I had made, but there are a ton now on Etsy compared to when I bought mine.

  • I am a major leaker as well, and I've had luck with these.

  • I have the thick reusable ones with the fabric weave to keep moisture off your skin.  For the first couple of weeks, I put a folded baby washcloth between the pad and my bra.

  • Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Here's to drier shirts! :)
  • Cloth Diapering has led me too Artsy Fartsy Foo Foo.  A woman makes them from hemp, it's super absorbent.
  • Try Bamboobies - they make an overnight pad that's super absorbent with hemp and bamboo - it's also crazy soft. If you're superleaky, you can put one of their regular pads which are really think and have PUL behind it. This might seem funny at first to buy two kinds but in the long term you'll want to leave the house with a super thin pad in - and these are the best. They show least and have the waterproof backing to make them do a much better job than the other washables made by big companies... I've found that the code MILK20 gives you 20% off on their site buybamboobies.com. check it out!
  • Oh I really don't like my reusables that much.  They soak through and stay wet and are not comfortable.  I use them in the house but not to go out.  I use the Ameda No Show ones when I'm out and about.
