I definitely would prefer a cotton/wool rug for the nursery but am having a hard time finding one that fits my room/budget. I know synthetics can emit fumes and that is partly why we are painting, setting up furniture and rug now so that the room can air out over the next 11 weeks.
Are other using synthetic rugs or am I crazy to do so?
Re: natural fiber v. synthetic rug
Depends on the style of your room, but I found some nice cotton rugs (no backing, but I prefer it that way) from The Company Store.

They also sell Jute rugs but they are too "crispy" for my taste. I wanted something a bit softer.
After having a kid that is a spitter/vomiter, I'd go with the synthetic rug hands down. All we have to do is take it outside and hose it off. LOL.
I think you should have plenty of time for it to off gas.
