3rd Trimester

Hit my belly---worried

So last night I was putting together my pack n play, and accidentally whacked myself in the belly with a metal pole.  I'm 37w 2d.  I realize that baby is really protected in there, but it definitely jammed into the right side of my belly a bit and startled the baby, because she jumped.  I feel so bad!  I called my doc, and they said as long as she was still moving, it sounded fine.  She's moving like normal, but I can't help but feel bad and be a bit worried about baby girl.

Anyone else do something similar?  I need some comforting stories :)

Re: Hit my belly---worried

  • I run into random objects (mostly kitchen chairs that I can't squeeze behind anymore) and I have yet to do any harm. It hurts when I do it but baby is always fine and I am too. Don't worry about it. It's just part of pregnancy. Gotta love being awkward!

  • I haven't jabbed myself with a pole, but I always run into door frames and knobs, along with trying to squeeze past chairs because I don't realize I am as big as I am =) lol

  • I think our bellies are much more durable than we know. My friend fell down a flight of stairs a few months ago (at 37 weeks prego) and baby was fine. Obviously, she had some bumps and bruises.

  • I have rammed my prego belly into the corner of my table twice now. I felt the same way worried that I did something to DS but Doc has see him since and everything is ok. I wouldnt worry too much :) I am sure you DD is just fine.

  • My toddler jabs my stomach multiple times a day. Poor girl is already getting beat up by her big brother! Smile We try to tell him "gentle with mommy's tummy" but he's an 18 month old boy- he doesn't always get it....LOL.

  • My 80 pound lab jumped on my belly a week ago it was random & he NEVER jumps so it startled me, but baby was buzzing around as usual.  If you think about all the muscle & tissue & your uterus along with the amniotic fluid that surrounds baby she is pretty well insulated in their! Im sure the LO is perfectly fine!

  • I hit my belly with our refrigerator door about once a day.  I don't know why I haven't learned yet, but it happens and LO is A-Okay.
  • I was in Disney World with my family over Memorial Day weekend and I was waiting at the bottom of a water slide to catch my 3 year old niece and her feet jammed right into my stomach when she hit the bottom of the slide once... kinda knocked the wind out of me and scared me a bit, but LO was fine :) Of course I felt much better after I felt him kicking afterward. I was 30 weeks at the time.

  • I hit my belly(about an inch above my belly button) with the door knob of the baby's room. I hit it so hard I had a big black bruise there for several days (it is a nice greenish-yellow shade now, lol). LO is just fine she moves around like normal and has even kicked that area once (that didn't feel to good, ha). Don't worry, momma, your LO is probably just fine!

Ha I do this too!  And with the bathroom door, and the bedroom door, and the front door.....  :)

  • When my mom was pregnant with me she was working as a nurse on a floor that was relatively high risk. One of her patients who wasn't all there grabbed her and started punching her in her stomach. She couldn't break his grip. I turned out perfect.
