My doctor told me that I could switch to femara at any point and time I wanted to.... so it looks like i'm going to give it a try this cycle. Especially after not responding well to clomid last cycle.
I'm a little nervous! I'll be the first patient that my doctor has ever used femara on. Then... if this next cycle is a bust, it's onto IUIs (which are not covered - lovely).
Re: CD 1 Looming - Onto Femara!
Boooo to CD1
I hope your bod decides that she likes Femara and finally gives you a good response! Enough of this crap already!
Have you asked if you can just try the injectibles and not do the IUI part? I am assuming your DH's SA is great... That way you can "test out" how you respond to them w/o having to pay for the IUI.
Good luck on Femara!
I haven't asked about injectibles yet. I know they wont be covered either, so i'm not sure which would be better. Femara & IUI or Injectables & TI.

IMO, it comes down to cost. You know your can get KU with TI as it happened before and he has, I assume, good swimmers, so it honestly might be cheaper to do TI + inject just to avoid the cost of IUI/wash.
Sorry about CD1. I hope Femara works for you!

I hope you don't mind me posting. I loved Femara, I responded to it about the same way as I did clomid (just one follie but it matured faster then it would have on its own) but I didn't have the bad side effects and produced a better outcome, so far anyway.
What dose are they give you? I had 2 pills for 5 days. Good luck.

GL! I always produced on femara, and it shaved a few days off my O time. I hope it works for you.
Two times I just produced one follie (one of those led to PG#1), and the third time, I produced two follies. No side effects here.

What kind of RE are you seeing that they have never had a patient on Femara?
I wondered this too only because I'd hate to see you waste any time while your doc figured out Femara. It seems fairly common, but I guess they have to start somewhere too.
Not necessarily. My RE does not like it b/c it is a cancer drug.
Hugs, Cashew. I am so sorry you don't get to start this cycle. That really sucks.
I'm not seeing an RE. I am actually seeing a PAC that is titled "fertility specialist". She used to work as an REs right hand man for 15 years before moving into my OBs office. But while she worked with him they never used femara.
When I brought femara up to her, she called the RE up and asked. He said he had only used it on 3 patients himself.
So even though she doesn't have the title "RE" I trust her so much. She has been wonderful, and loves my knowledge. I'm getting the proper monitoring and had the proper tests taken.

My RE is recommending Femara for me when we finally get to try again - he wants to skip Clomid for me completely. He explained that it works better in some women who have estrogen/progesterone imbalances and PCOS. He said he's had good success using it. If I remember correctly, I was to take it CD 3-7.
I hope it works for you.

Gotcha. Good luck with the Femara!! And also, I think it is very important to have a good relationship with your doctor when you are dealing with any IF issues, so I'm glad you have a doctor you trust. I was never comfortable with my last RE and I hate "shopping" around, if you know what I mean.
