Ok so two very randoms things I heard you're not supposed to do while pregnant, any truth to these??
1. You shouldn't eat soft serve ice cream ?
2.When getting a pedicure dont let them massage the area between ankle bone and heel because it could cause contractions?
Re: Is there any truth to the following?
1. I heard this too and ask the nice women on this board. Seemed like most people thought it was fine. I've had it a few times and seem to be alright so far. I think as long as the company cleans the dispensers regularly, you're fine (which most seem to be required to do).
2. No clue, but now I'm interested!
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.

1. I eat frozen yogurt 1-2 times a week and it's been fine. It was not on my docs foods to avoid list.
2. I've had a number of pedicures and foot massages and it hasn't been a problem. From what I understand someone would have to really know how to find the spot and really push hard for it to be a problem. My doc said get as many pedicures and foot massages as I wanted. He was more worried about the ventilation in the nail salon than the massage.

My OB gave me a tips for pregnancy sheet and on it, it said that pedicures were okay, but to not have them massage the ankles. I am not sure if it just applies to later on or all of pregnancy. I had a pedicure last week and just asked her to avoid my ankles (but not anything else!).
Hmmm...this is interesting. I've had pedicures every 2 weeks since 30 weeks with no issues, although they can obviously see that I am pregnant. My DH also rubs my feet every other night and he rubs my ankles a lot since I have so much swelling in that area.
I'm going for a pedicure tomorrow and am going to tell them I need them to focus on whatever this spot is...maybe they can get Max out

1. there is a chance of listeria from the soft serve machines, b/c they typically don't get cleaned often. listeria is harmless to you but can kill fetuses. anyway, listeria outbreaks are very rare and your chances of getting it are slim to none.
FWIW at the beginning of my PG i accidentally had soft serve (accidentally in that i didnt realize wendy's frosties are from a SS machine, or i had a shake that was made from SS) several times and i was fine! i've just mostly avoided it since then. but most women indulge and are just fine, it's just me being a little nutty
2. yes, when i get pedis i specifically say i'm pregnant, please avoid any areas that could cause an issue. i'm pretty obvs pregnant, but not everyone is observant so i get it out there and haven't had an issue! i still get a nice foot rub
I rarely have soft serve, so I don't worry about it. It is kind of like listeria with deli meat - I don't stress too much about it.
I did read about the ankle massage. I had a masseuse tell me that she tried to bring on labor for a friend by massaging that area and nothing happened. I get pedicures every 2-3 weeks and I don't worry about. And like YellowDaisy, DH tries to work the water out of my feet most nights and that includes my ankles.
My OB did not mention any of this on my "do not do list."
