Help for friend...

I just learned that my friend had her baby at a little over 31 weeks.  He's doing well, but in the NICU.  Is there anything that I can send over or do that would be helpful?  I don't want to bother them, but would like to do something before I leave for a week and a half vacation on Friday.

    We ended up eating out a lot when ds was in the nicu.  So I would say bring them a meal or get them a gift card so they can eat out.

    I can't tell if she's a LD friend or nearby, but I always tell people bringing a meal is the biggest help. People sent me a few preemie outfits - she should be able to dress LO soon.

    Gift cards to restaurants near the hospital or offer to pick them up food & preemie outfits. Those were the things we could have used right away.  Carters & Walmart were the 2 places that had preemie outfits.  We were constantly eating out in between NICU visits because that was the easiest for us. That is so sweet of you to be thinking of them. They will appreciate it so much!

    One of the best, useful gifts we got was a cooler tote bag with lots of snacks in it, a 12 pack of (already cold) pop we both liked, and a dinner (homemade chicken soup).

    We were boarding at the hospital, so the food was even more important since the cafeteria closed at 6 and there weren't many good places to eat nearby.

    Other things that helped: we were working on the nursery when my water broke.  My parents finished getting it ready (painting and all).  I had already washed clothes, but if I hadn't, I would have loved it if someone did that for me.

    I would also ask it in the "What can I bring you for dinner tonight?" way instead of "Do you want me to get you dinner?" - asking for help is hard!

    Husband has cystic fibrosis. I'm a carrier. We did TESE, IVF, ICSI, and PGD. After two failed IVFs, we were blessed with our twins.

    Thanks ladies!  I have an u/s appt at the hospital the Tuesday after we get back-so maybe I'll just bring something over then.  Luckily the hospital has a ton of places nearby-so I'll stop and pick up some gift certificates and some snacks, and maybe an outfit.
