Moms with C-sections

All of my girls were born before 38 weeks so I have no knowledge of this since none of my c-sections have been at their scheduled time.  BUT, can you do your c-section close to your due date (after 39 weeks)?  I know most doctors schedule them for right around 39 weeks to try to avoid you going into labor but wasn't sure how far into that week they let you go.

    I didn't have a c-section but on of my friends just had her second and she was scheduled for and had it at 39w5d.

    My c-section wasn't scheduled , but I would assume it would depend on the reason for the c-section and health of you and the baby.

    I'm moving and switching OBs next month, so I'm not sure yet, but if I schedule a RCS I'm going to ask to do it as close to my EDD as possible.  With DD I was induced with no progress after 41 weeks, so I figure it's unlikely I will go into labor early with this one, and if I do I am willing to consider a trial of labor.

    I'd like to try to make it as close to 40 weeks as possible this time, I just wondered how late OBs let people go. My girls were born at 35, 36, and 37 weeks, and, IF I can maintain my fluid, I'd like to go past 39 weeks (although unlikely)

    I just had an appointment and talked with my doc about this.  She said that as long as the baby isn't too big at the time of our sono, she sees no reason that I couldn't schedule it for Dec. 2 when the due date is Dec. 5.

    My  cs was scheduled for the 13th with dd and she was born at 39wks 4 days.

    I spoke with OB 2 days ago and they usually schedule you at 39 weeks. I'll be 39 weeks on 12/12/11 but I am going to see if my OB will do it on 12/14/11. They usually don't wait too long because there is a chance you can go into labor and your uterus may ruture.
