Renting a doppler?

If you have or will rent a Doppler where did you go through? Thinking I'd like to rent one for my peace of mind. Seeing posts about late m/c is making me overly anxious & I think I'd feel better renting one. (Maybe buying & sell it later.) I know my risk of m/c is low now that I've seen the hb on a sono but after experiencing one m/c I'm very scared. What do other 2/12 moms think?

Well, just so you are aware. Many times the HB can't be found on a doppler until 10-14 weeks (and that's by people who are trained to find the HB on a doppler.) So, if I had a doppler but couldn't find the HB, that would worry me even more!

I just ordered my angelsounds doppler for 70 bucks. It has a screen to show the heart rate too which i thought was a steal given that they run at 299.99. I've had 2 miscarriages and have never had the chance to hear our babies heart beat so this is a huge deal for us, and we are very excited.

I've heard WAY TOO MANY health professionals say not to get one since they can be hard to use correctly. I'll leave it to the professionals.

I think that if it will put you at ease, then it would be worth it. You can always sell on Ebay later . . . I would definitely research how to use it correctly though and not freak out if you can't find it.

I know my doc mentioned she can usually find the heartbeat about 8 to 9 weeks with the doppler, but it depends on where the LO is hanging out. If its too far behind the pelvic bone, then you have to wait longer.

With my DS I rented mine from Baby Beats. I still have it, because I ended up just buying it. It was the best purchase I made!

I couldn't find the heartbeat until almost 11 weeks, but once I did it was nice to have it. I listened to it for just a few seconds each night before I went to bed my entire pregnancy. It was such a relief and put my mind at ease.

I can't wait to pull it out and use it with this baby once I'm further along.

I rented one and it should be here by the end of the week and I'm excited to try it. It's for use starting between 8 and 10 weeks so if I can't find it right away, I won't freak out. I used one with my son too and I loved it - it wasn't as sensitive as the one I am renting this time though. They will come with instructions and possibly even a DVD to explain how to use it and where to find the heartbeat so if it will make you feel better then I'd rent one and take it to the next appointment you have so the doctor can help you find it if you have trouble.

I bought one from pulseoximeteronline and its making me nuts! I found the heart beat 2 times so far but it was only for a few seconds. I kept trying and trying and never found anything again. I threw the gel out and will reorder it at 11 weeks! I wish I didn't get it because I'm so anxious (I never thought I'd be one of those people!) So my suggestion is to wait and buy one at 11+ weeks when your chances of finding it are greater.

I just ordered the Sonoline B. My OB told me that home dopplers aren't very reliable, but I don't care. It was $56. If it works, the peace of mind is worth way more than that!
