My best friend just called me in tears. She's pregnant, just took 4 tests today and all 4 were positive! She has a DD, she'll be 1 year in Sept and this new baby will be due in March. I'm so excited for her, probably more excited than she is at this point! LOL.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever gotten k/u with an IUD? Or know anyone who has been pregnant with it? Also, I'm just a little scared for her to make sure it's a viable pregnancy.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Best friend got pregnant with IUD (paragard)
I had a friend get pregnant on a Paragard. She did go full term with her pregnancy and the baby was healthy but she did have a hard pregnancy. The IUD was not able to be removed safely so it stayed in durning the pregnancy. I am not sure if that had any impact or if she would have had problems anyway. She was on bedrest for 4.5 months.
I hope she has a safe pregnancy.

My Mom's friend had an IUD baby after her older 2 were in college. (They drove to the kids' colleges to tell them...poor kids thought sure she was coming to tell them she had cancer. They never dreamed they'd be having a little brother.)
In her case, they determined that the IUD must have fallen out. No issues and a healthy baby.
Me too! I have a Mirena...but still YIKES! I was iffy on doing something permanent since I'm still pretty young but this thread is pushing me towards it.

It happened about... 2 years ago ::looks down at ticker:: Yep. About 2 years.
In my case my IUD had fallen out. It's actually somewhat common (I think 8% of women have their Paraguard fall out within the first year - something they neglect to tell you!!). Mine was in for years... maybe 5-6 before it came out. What happens most often is that the IUD strings get tangled up with a tampon and whooosh, out it comes! I didn't feel a thing or even notice. I had my annual 3-4 weeks before I got pregnant and everything looked great with the IUD.
There can be some complications with an IUD still in the body but hopefully those won't happen with your friend. She'll need to see a doctor ASAP for an ultrasound to see if the IUD is still in place and take it from there. My bet is that it just fell out. It's totally scary!
Ahh! I'm on the Mirena too. Now I'm debating going to buy a pregnancy test haha!
