Thoughts on Snugli brand baby carrier?

I found one used on craigslist, but I can't seem to find much info or reviews for it online. Does anyone have experience with this brand? Thanks!

Re: Thoughts on Snugli brand baby carrier?

  • Most of the Snuglis I've seen appear to be of the "crotch-dangler" variety, which are bad for baby's hips and back.

If it's one that hold's the baby's knees higher than his/her bum, then it's safe though.

Sorry I can't offer any personal experience though!

This is actually not true.  I have a snuggli and it has a waist band and no weird x on the back.  I LOVED it, I compared it to pictures of other carriers and there was no crotch dangling at all and it literally looks exactly like the ergo.  There are different types of snuggli carriers, so not all of them are the uncomfortable ones.

My mom bought me mine (the style was my request) and it was $50 or something like that and so worth the money.  I even gave it to a friend while her baby was in appropriate age/weight range.  I would highly recommend it as long as it has a waist strap.

Okay.  So apparently what I wrote is SOMETIMES true, not untrue.  It looks like the newer ones are much better than the original.  I apologize if I've offended you.

OP:  Here's Snuggli's website:  https://www.snugli.com/soft-carriers/.  The "front and back snugli" and the "seated snugli" have waistbands.  The "seated snugli" is not a crotch dangler.  If there's no picture, I'd ask the seller which version (s)he's selling.  Hopefully, all the responses are helpful to you!

You didn't offend me, I just get a bit annoyed that snuggli gets the bad rap that it does when it does offer carriers that are just as good, but cheaper then some of the more popular ones!

Thanks for sharing that. I also didn't know that they're one of the inexpensive carriers.  I'm a HUGE fan of folks knowing that babywearing does not have to be expensive--including knowing about used & DIY carriers.
