Xander's 2 month appointment is next week and he is getting his shots (no haterade please I don't hate on anyone else
) and I have heard to get some tylenol in the house for when he gets home incase he reacts poorly to them.. well at Publix today all I saw were boxes that say 6mo-2 years... am I missing something or do you just cut up a 6mo one? Curious as to if anyone found anything that was newborn friendly or what you did if LO did get a fever after the shots? At the last appointment I had asked but he said definitely don't give him anything beforehand but if I wanted to get some for after it wouldn't hurt. I will ask at the appointment to be sure but I wanted to try to get it before hand because I'm sure I won't want to put him down the whole day (after his circumcision, when I finally stopped crying, I held him all day haha..he didn't even seem phased!)
Thanks in advance, you all are great!
Re: ? about 2mo check up w/ shots
You will have to get the dosage amount from your pedi. There is a calculation based on weight.

I was advised by our doctors not to do this before shots as recent studies have shown that the tylenol can interfere with the effectiveness of the shots.
I don't plan on giving the tylenol until after the shots if necessary.
This is my doc's advice as well. I have the infant stuff here, but I won't pre-dose him. She also said some babies don't react, so it's better to wait and see if he even needs it.

Ya this is why I didn't worry too much about asking how much to give him because I knew I'd see him again before I would need to but then got all confused in the grocery store.. Probably the first time I really felt like I had no clue what I was doing at a mom, which might make some people sad, but me, I thought of it as I made it 8 weeks without feeling like I was clueless, I'm doing alright
Thanks for all the help ladies!!!
Yep.
LO had her shots this afternoon and she has not seemed to be in any extra pain that she would need anything. I did do some extra nursing and snuggling with her this afternoon which I think helped a lot.
I could have used something like a beer before they gave her the shot though... It was so awful to see her in such pain. I had to fight back those tears.
Sorry, just reread your post and must have read through it too quickly the first time! Just ask the doc. at your appt, and they will give you the correct dosage of infant tylenol based on their weight!
okay, need to edit. About 4 hours after the vaccinations, she woke up from a nap screaming in that high pitched "I'm in serious pain" way. So I gave her the infant Tylenol. much better now...
My girl had to go through all that also (minus catheter, add additional spinal tap, yuck), and I was able to stay strong, but now you have me worried about her vaccination appointment!
