Cloth Diapering

Stripping other items (not TMI)

If you ever get bored, you should strip your towels.  It makes them so fluffy and "brand new" feeling.

Re: Stripping other items (not TMI)

  • I've been thinking about doing my kitchen towels and rags. DH is a towel abuser.

  • But you're clean when you use your towel, so it always stays clean.

Kidding, but this is what my DH said once in college . . .

DH tried to tell me this once, too.

    Um.  no.  :op

  • I would never have thought to do this...though it makes perfect sense with the build up of dead skin and hair and body products.

    Add to my nesting list....

Just to let you all know right after DH and I got married we had a huge fight because he didn't believe a shower needed to be cleaned because you used soap when you took a shower.

  • My DH used this reason for why it was OK for him to get out of the shower and grab MY towel (since his was of course on the BR floor where he left ita fter his alst shower).  We now have color coded towels!  He can use any of the 8 million towels in the house, as long as he doesn't touch my green ones.

I've come to the conclusion that most guys are gross, or have at least one gross habit that they try to justify.

    And thanks!

  • This will be good practice. My towels have certianly been softer, but they are starting to lose life. I hate buying new towels!

DH is weird about towel use, he never puts his on the floor, always hangs it up nicely. He never steals my towel either. He uses the daily shower cleaner thing in his shower too, but never actually cleans it LOL

  • I always put vinegar in w/ our towels when I was them. Fabric softener = crunchy towels.

  • DH and I have color coded towels too. His ALWAYS start to stink after a few uses. He's a bit "furrier" than the average DH so he gets them soaked.

I usually do a vinegar load once a month. I stopped keeping them in the bathroom too, I think the extra moisture in there wasn't helping.

A fellow collegiate co-worker at one of my summer jobs hadn't washed her towels the entire semester for that same reason.  Another co-worker and I quickly educated her.....

  • our towels used to always stink after one use as soon as they got wet (even when fresh out of the washer). Now that we hang them on the clothesline (and they get sanitized by the sun), this doesn't happen anymore.  BUT, they aren't soft.  I don't mind, but DH does.  I may have to get some dryer balls. I've heard those help if you toss crumchy stuff in teh dryer with them ofr a few.
