Do I say something to DCP?

C is in a substitute DCP for the month of July.  On Friday I picked him up from the new place, and he was waking up from a nap in a PnP.  When we went in to get him, he had a bib on (he's a drooler) but he had flipped it up and covering his face.  I don't know how long it had been covering his face, and he was fine, but after I left I got to thinking that this is a potential hazard.  Would I be out of line if I called the sub-DCP and asked her to take off the drool bib when she puts him down for naps?

  • I'm sure it's fine. My BFF's son slept with his security blanket over his face for much of his infancy. However, I would say something just in case. Next time you see DCP just tell them that he doesn't need the bib to sleep.

  • I would say something. I never put my kids to sleep w/ a bib on, he can turn his head and it can hurt his neck or strangle him.

  • definitely say something.

he should NOT be wearing bibs for a nap. My son wore bibs all day everyday until he was around 10 months old, but we never, ever let him sleep in them.

  • Definitely say something - we don't let J wear bibs for naps at all. I might be paranoid, but it seems like a hazard to me.

This.  DD1 was a crazy spitter and had to be changed multiple times per day but we never put her to bed or let DCP put her to bed with a bib on.

  • Definitely say something.

BTW, where did you end up taking him?  I've been meaning to e-mail you to ask...  send me an e-mail, and let me know how things are going (aside from the bib thing...)  This morning, Jac just started back at A's for the month.

  • I know it's already been said but DEFINITELY say something.  The bib over his face would concern me a lot less than having something around his neck when he's sleeping, even if it's a velcro pull-off.  And if it wasn't velcro, I'd seriously consider pulling him (I know, easier said than done).  That would make me WAY too nervous.
