2nd Trimester

Still Nauseated?

Anyone still have nausea into the 2nd tri?  If so, when did it finally go away?  I am 14 weeks and if I forget to take my ginger capsules twice daily I still get really nauseated. Hoping it will go away soon.

Re: Still Nauseated?

  • I thought the nausea and vomitting would NEVER go away and when i got to second tri i was still going strong. When i hit 16.5 weeks it suddenly stopped out of no where. SO weird... still holding my breath but i hope its officially gone!

  • I had it until 14-15 weeks.  I stopped vomiting at 14 with it going away by 15.  BUT - if I do not take unisom/B6 then I am still hurting. :(  Hopefully you will get relief soon! Hang in there!

  • At 18 weeks, I still get nausea.  Not as bad at the first trimester (that was awful). It seems like a gradual thing.  It has helped having much smaller, more frequent meals. Also I take extra vitamin b in my prenatal vitamins (supposed to help with the nausea).
  • I was really sick all day from 5 weeks until 15 weeks - I am 16 weeks now and just feel sick at night and when I don't eat. It is such a difference dealing with it only at night instead of all day. It feels like it is definitely going away. Just hang in there!

  • Unfortunately for me, I've been experiencing nausea since week five. The vomiting started around week 10 and both have been non stop. Ugh! With meds I can say that it has gotten a little better but far from gone. Today my dr. gave me a prescription for unisom and vitamin B6, really going to pray they work.

I hope you don't have to suffer as long as I have. Feel better soon. :)

Hi, I know Unisom causes drowsiness but does it taper off after taking it for awhile? I've been on bed rest due to my nausea and vomiting and my dr gave me a prescription for Unisom and B6 yesterday. I'm just curious to know if I'll be able to return to work while using Unisom. Thanks!

  • It's still going strong here. Zofran is my BFF.

  • I still have trouble eating many foods.  I am trying to eat only the healthy stuff. For some reason I don't want ice cream.  And usually I am an ice cream freak!

  • I'm at 24 weeks and still get nauseous several times a week. Usually it's my own fault, though, if I haven't eaten in a couple of hours. If I stuff some food in my face it goes away pretty quickly.
  • My dr told me to take Unisom & B6 also... I take a full Unisom tablet before bed & a half of one in the mornings... I personally dont feel like it makes me drowsy... hope this helps some :)

This is me too. I was still puking up until a couple of days ago. The past few days have been much better and my appetite is back. Yay!

If it is so bad you are on bed rest why doesn't your Dr give you a prescription like Zofran or Phernegan?   That makes no sense since Unisom and B6 are OTC.

Unisom/B6 didn't work for me.  I have to take Zofran but only 1 a day.  Luckily my m/s is finally starting to taper off -knocks on wood. I have pretty much thrown up every morning since 8 weeks.

  • I am 17 weeks and mornings use to be the worst time of my day...  It is getting better but smells and brushing my teeth set me off.  And now in the middle of the night I have been waking up very nauseated and puking.  I am hoping it gets better and does not last though the entire pregnancy.  Try Zofran... it is my bff right now and will really help curb the nausea and help with the puking.  Good luck :D Feel better!

Ive been on Zofran 4mg with NO results. Ive been taking Phenergran 12.5mg 3 times a day and 25mg at bedtime which seems to help a little better than the Zofran. However, the vomiting started again so my dr prescribed Phenegran suppositories and Unisom/B6 which I am to take 3 times a day. Although the Unisom and B6 is OTC, my dr still sent over a prescription but the pharmacist just told me to get them off the shelf.

If the Unisom/B6 does help Im just wondering how will I be able to return back to work if the Unisom will cause drowsiness. I go back to the dr next Tuesday so I will be asking about that.
